My husband has been laid off since Feb and still has not found work. He's been close to getting hired a couple of times, but they have fallen through. We are getting down in the dumps, feeling like this is never going to end.
Anybody have any words of encouragement for us???

He's having a very hard time finding a job. He's had so many interviews!
He's even tried our place of work & nothing. He's hanging in there.

Unfortunately, my background is in manufacturing and quality and Ohio's jobs are drying up very quickly or they want someone who has so much experience in food and medical where my experience is in automotive.
I've had 3 interviews and 2 told me I was overqualified - I have a lot of experience being a supervisor/manager and they were for technician jobs but I would love to have those.
This isn't the first time I've been laid off so I'm not far ahead on the mortgage and bills as I would like.
I am also getting discouraged and not sure what I'm going to do.

With school and colleges starting up, and it being toward the end of the hiring season, there may be job they are eager to fill quickly.
Also, try the temp agencies.
You may be working a job you have not done before, but you may find you like it???

Could there be a worse field to be in right now????
She is 29 and worked for HSBC for about 4 years, got laid off, went to M & T Bank, got laid off, went to Citi Bank, got laid off, went to First Niagara Bank and got laid off.
She's now been jobless since February and is getting very discouraged. Obviously, she has been looking for work outside the banking industry, but our area is really in trouble job-wise.

They are building a new security building and need public workers for the jobs that will be available. They think that with all that is going on the public needs more security. WFAFB is on of the largest bases and if the enermy comes they will go after the base. I live less then 2 miles from the base.
Most of the people that are not working for the base are being laid off and the people here are still looking for jobs and with NCR closing makes things worse for all. My son has been looking for several months for a job and has gone the route of looking, interviews, and waiting.
I feel the new health bill that makes companies carry health insurance will hurt many small companies that can not afford it. I think this will cause many more companies to close and more people will lose jobs. Jobs are getting more scarce and more people are going to assistance program and the levies are not be passed and many police are being laid off. It seems that it is a circle that keeps on going. In Cincinnati many police officers are being laid off, does not that mean crime will pay? I sure hope not. I do not think the world is progressing I think it is getting worse.

My 24 year old daughter just completed one year graduate school in Amsterdam, Netherlands in International Finance. For the last 3-4 months, she sent hundreds of resumes all over the US and no one is hiring! Three weeks ago, she got a job offer at an energy company in Amsterdam with starting salary of 50K, which she accepted and will start on Sept 1st. I told her she's better off there for a while. His primary field is fire sprinkler design so they told him he'd be overqualified for what they had.
We get unemployment which has been fine since our house is in forclosure. But when the day comes for us to get out, then what?? Unemployment is just enough to get by not including any sort of rent.
Section 8 is not available/closed here.
We aren't sure when we have to be out of the house, but the transfer or sale was last month.

he works a week here ,2weeks there a day here ect this months he has worked 6 days inbetween he dose qualify for unemployment but this is getting old ,i have lots 3 kids do to one parent not haveing a job and one the mom had to quit work beacuse husband got deployed to iraq and impossiable for her to work and take care of a home with 6 kids shes only 28 its rough ,i believe in prayer even when your struggles are big think of others god see your good work,reach out to others in your neighborhood,barter services, i have swaped child care for a tunup on my car,ive alot of people are tight on money ,my daughter had alot of cloths she had outgrown i swaped them on craigslist for a wagon i was happy and my daughter loves the wasgon,keep your mind occupied read,find things in the community that are free and if you have kids make it an outing we had wend night car shoe total free my daughter loved seeing the cars,we had movie and swimming nigth at the local high school it did cost but money went to support the swim teal i was happy to donate $1 to watch my daughter flote around watching little mermaid.its rough but it will get better. 17|1|its hard|joseph|parkerjoe3@yahoo.com|20:20:53|08/22/2009|
a problem is if you don't have any skills,my son was going to get a job at napa auto parts but starting wage was 8.50 an hour.you can't live on that.unemployment pays more. california businesses are down all over.
