My daughter is playing volleyball and basketball this year and you know what this crazy school is doing...They make all the team players have matching shoes!!! So i have to fork out money for special shoes for volleyball and of course those shoes wont work for basketball so then i have to fork out more money for basketball shoes. I dont know where im going to get all this money from but i dont want to keep her from participating in sports so i will manage some how. Good Grief!!!! Its $59 for her Volleyball shoes and $12 for her shirt that she has to have and i dont know how much its going to cost for her basketball shoes yet. I told her she was killing me...LOL but like i said she is in high school now and i dont want to keep her from participating in sports just because im broke..LOL so i will figure it out some how Im just venting!!!!

W/the type of shoe required & size specifications. You might be able to get ahold of a t-shirt &/or some good-used shoes that way. Or check w/the school & see if maybe someone has mentioned to them about having some good-used ones. I did this when my son was younger & joined wrestling. Actually, the school held a wrestling registration open-house before wrestling started & it not only consisted of the registration process but they also had good-used singlets, shoes, knee pads, etc. that incoming wrestlers could purchase at a much more reasonable price than having to buy new.

3|1|Jen, one thing our community does is to have a sports gear swap meet once or twice a year...people bring in shoes or other gear that their kids have outgrown and then get stuff that they need there. Might be something you could organize if your kids are going to be in sports alot! :) So far, it's mostly the same people who participated all through peewee leagues, we just kept it going. And I'm always glad to pass things along that are in perfectly good shape rather than to just throw them away because the shoes or gear don't fit my boys anymore.

My DD was into EVERYTHING in high school - had to buy so many things for so many different sports, etc. - THEN she decides to be a cheerleader too - MATCHING NIKE SHOES THERE TOO! UGGGGHHHH.

try craigslist you could put a wanted ad for what you need and the price you can pay or donations. glad my son isn't into any team sports. back to school clothing is bad enough.
