Okay.....I was fired from my job in a department for not meeting the quota needed of asking the customers to sign up for a credit card in June 2009. I did a lot of soul searching and really want a business of my own. DH says it is too risky. I set my mind on getting my CDL to drive school bus, but that is only three hours a day. I did get my CDL and the local bus company took me on as a Pre K driver for this school year (start Sept 1). Also, starting in September I will be working 10 hours a week for a friend of mine that owns a craft mall. I have two products that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE! Tastefully Simple and Tupperware. My friend at the craft mall said that she will work around whatever I chose to do because they are open seven days a week. Do I drive bus, craft mall and forget the rest? Do I drive bus, craft mall and one or both of the other businesses? What are your thoughts? BrendaLee 1|1|I say do the bus driving job, the craft mall (both of those are more solid), and choose one of the other products to do on your days off, like on weekends? Home parties once or twice a week wouldnt be too overwhelming, but would bring in income for you....and alot of the ladies around here just do book parties, so the rep isnt even needed except to guide the hostess through the process. :) Congrats on your new jobs! |saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|22:09:57|07/31/2009|

A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have.

At all costs keep the job driving the bus. It will cover many of the taxes you would normally have to pay if you had pmly a small business. You should contact the SBA in your state. They are very helpful. I would also suggest you send away for every free flyer on running a small business. If you don't need it toss it away.
I know you must show a profit within so many years. The SMA can tell you that. You may also be able to keep with the Hobbbies and Crafts level and not files taxes. But then you miss out on the tax breaks. The paperwork is a bear!
Good Luck! 4|1|what kind of small business do you want to start?|KellyJef|burke3536@yahoo.com|14:59:44|08/01/2009|

Thank you to those of you that responded.

My decision is.....I am going to drive school bus and work part time in the craft mall. While I am doing these two jobs I will be making crafts to sell at the craft mall. The money that I make from selling my crafts will go into a separate bank account to accumulate until I have enough money to purchase the kit for Tastefully Simple.

BrendaLee 6|1|Congrats on the decision, hope all goes well, and everything turns out the way you want|kandywolf|kandywolf@gmail.com|17:22:17|08/04/2009|
