I've had migraines since a teenager and the best OTC meds you can get is goody's powder, BC powders and if you can't tolerate the powders, go with excedrin instead. You need something with caffeine in it to constrict blood vessels as headaches are caused by blood vessels being expanded, inflamed against the nerves in your head. Which accounts for the malicious migraine I get when they give me nitro for my heart, nitro expands vessels and veins to get blood flowing better in case of a heart attack...but I digress.
Anyhow, yep I would use a combo pain killer with caffeine. If you can't do that, aleve is good with a good hot cup of coffee (or two).
Oh, if you can't have tylenol, I do think there is aceteminophen in bc and goody, excedrin...so I would take 4 advil 200 mg or two aleve but also add the caffeine. Prescription ibuprofen is 800 mg which is I why I take 4 of the 200mg OTC strength.

I'd echo that and would only add that you rule out any possible infections. I had awful, life stopping headaches for a month just a while ago and it was really a sinus infection. Once I got the infection knocked out, I got my life back again.

that the only thing that works is Excedrine Migraine. Before I found this I was taking tylanol, sudafed, and drinking a caffinated soda (but even then, it would take awhile to set in and work). This Excedrine Migraine works like a charm and quick. I am so glad I found it.

Excedrin tension works really really good for me. My headaches start in the back of my neck.
Everyone is different though...but I think it would be worth a try.
