I don't know a thing about laptops...but find myself needing one for work.
I have to be able to do the wireless thing (not sure how)..maybe you can explain it to me
Need to be able to send pictures and emails, surf and uploads....
What is the difference between a "mini", "netbook", laptop, etc....??????
I doesn't have to have a huge amount of memory, but needs to be able to hold a couple hundred pics...and
be fast enough to upload reports/emails fairly quickly....
Can anyone help me ?? ...... I'm laptop illiterate .......

mini", small versions. Most minis don't have disc drives on them they are too small.

Go when they are less busy. Early morning or late evening...not on the weekend if you can help it. They should be way more than willing to answer all your questions for you.

1) Smaller. The keyboard is more cramped and the screen is markedly smaller. By alot.
2) Lighter. Easier for students
3) Not as souped up. Don't expect it to play computer games like Halo 3.
4) Less expensive. They run around 300 bucks.
5) Less RAM - can make it run slower.

you need softwear (of course) , A wireless router. fairly easy to install
for the things you want to do you want laptop with at least 2GB ram to 4 GB depending on what you want to load, plus will be faster when you are using it.
I like the teens at Sears for info, they can really help and willing to answer ???
now is a good time to look with the back to school offers. my last 2 puters were Dell laptops, happy with them so far
