I guess he's trying to find his new identity as a single man, but he's really screwing up his image in the process. With all of the rumors that he actually proposed to that new gf of this while in France, just makes him look emotionally callous and detached. He looks like he's been drinking way too much to be thinking clearly. All I can think of is the poor kids. First of all Kate is NOT taking care of all those kids alone. She has round the clock help -- I believe she had 4 nannies but is now down to 3. She's a stay at home mom. how many other moms (I'm sure there are some here with 8 kids) have that help?
Second, she is a b&*#h. We can see that on the show - always have been able to see it.
Third, she is the driving force for this show. She loves the limelight.
Fourth, Jon got thrown into it. He tried to juggle this and his IT career, but, well, this paid better, so what the heck...
Fifth, I don't think that Jon's lifestyle change is all that fast. There are articles that say their marriage has been broken for a few years now but that he stayed because of the show. He has know this GF for several years.
Sixth, don't down him so much for trying to have a life. Life is short and if you are miserable you need to change it; if you don't change it you have nobody but yourself to blame for being miserable.
Seventh, being in a broken marriage for the sake of the kids does NOT hel the kids. Kids are not stupid. Staying for them creates other problems. If you can't be happy you can't teach your kids to be happy.
Eighth -- where is he getting his money? Hello! He makes $75K PER EPISODE. That's more than most of us here make in a year. So money is not an issue.
Please don't flame me. I know as moms we always want to take the mom's side, but I just want everyone to sit back and try to see that there may be another side to this situation.
4|2|Well said, Robin....actually, I think they both have alot of blame in their issues....I don't condone having an affair just because you are unhappy in a marriage (get a divorce, then find someone new!), but Kate is said to be quite the shrew and harps on him alot....I could see where he'd be miserable. That would set a much better example for the kids. When I divorced from my first marriage (16 yrs) I can honestly say I never dated till my divorce was final. My kids knew that and still respect me for that. However their bio father was already running around on my with the girlfriend..who he later married..and no respect there for either of them. I have never met her, nor do I know her personally. I am going based on MY VIEW of the show & I don't believe that she is a b&*#h.
If you have met her then I guess you think she is one (b&*#h) but to call someone that based on NOT knowning them personally I think

In the first show, Jon & Kate said that they BOTH wanted to do the show. I think it might have lasted longer then what they both thought it would.

Prime example of money being the root of all (some) evil. I am not a follower of this show but i did see the replay of the 'big news' episode. I was almost sickened when they both said that the show must go on. Sick, sick, sick. Those children could care less if they wear Gymbo clothing but I bet they all care if they have mom and dad at home w/ them. Give up the show for the sake of your family...that is a no brainer to me. But obvioulsy it has gone way beyond that for them both but it does show what they have both put as a priority, huh? NOT FAMILY for sure!
From the episodes I have ever watched, I think she treats him as inferior like "dumb Jon", "disorganized Jon" etc. That is disrespectful and demeaning but I also think she has control issues with everyone and everything so I do not think she purposely treated him that way but rather just treats everyone that way. I think that was a big factor in driving him away.
I also previously watched it and she was the SAHM and he worked an IT job. But then at the 'big news' episode, I guess he stayed home and she travelled with the book and public speaking jobs. That is not being a SAHM. So now that Jon is gone, and she is obviously still doing appearances bc I seen it in the paper a week or two ago that she was in California, then who is staying home w/ the kids? They went from two parents to none. That is really sad. Those kids are going to be damaged but I am sure they will hopefully be okay, God willing. I think giving either Jon or Kate full custody would make the other parent have no custody...and these kids do not need LESS parents, they need more/ both. Taking a parent out of a kids life (unless there is danger obviously) only hurts the kids. I don't think either of these two parents have done anything so horrible they should not have their kids anymore.
Very sad; this bothered me that they were going down the tubes so publicly. Imagine what those children will learn about from the 'news' now and in later years. That is sad.
I do hope they get their crap together for the sake of the children, if not for their own sanity.
