It is almost dry as a desert up here in Wisconsin! Good for making hay, but have to keep watering our stuff like crazy. Our rain barrel is just about empty.

I'm having a hard time with my watermelons... the stems are actually drying up yet I keep them watered.. Did your cukes spring back? I try and remember to plant radish and Sweet Allysum near my cukes to help keep aphids away... Do they have aphids?

I picked my first soybeans this week.. VERY GOOD with sea salt! :), green beans, peppers, squash, and pulled up some garlic.. Gonna have some tomatoes soon but was real disapointed. i thought planting basil around them would keep those big green worms off but i am having to go out every evning and pick them off! Now i have LOADS of Basil! hahah!

It is right outside our apartment and it has been fun eating our fill of cherries this year. That is the extent of my "garden". Did you just hear that giant collective sigh of relief from all of those plants and seeds. They all rest easier knowing I am far away from them. I had a plant about six months ago that I rescued from someone who was moving and Dh said (rather sarcastically and as I remember it, not so nicely) that I always manage to kill plants, but I told him I could save it. Well, let's just say that he knows me well. LOL! It really is better if I do not try to grow things. 14|2|80 ears of corn|angNC|memawang@embarqmail.com|19:22:09|07/15/2009|

I either did it on the cob freezing, or cut it off and froze it. I can't stand for a long time so i would do some and rest.
or sit in chair by the stove. I saw it in the store today and it was 40 cents an ear. So I guess I saved 32.00.
We got cukes and peppers and now tomotoes. There is 9 watermelon still growing. Snaps, peas to come along. 15|3|ang - your post reminded me, I have 4 little watermelons out back on their own.. about the size of a saucer.. they are so cute (and 1 the size of a golf ball).. wish my birdhouse gourds would pollenate already.. they make lovely white flowers.. then a 1 inch gourd - then the gourd turns brown and rots.. |car_mont|car_mont@hotmail.com|22:26:13|07/15/2009|

I'm growing these all indoors so considering that, they are doing great! I pruned them down so they are not so tall and lanky, but all are growing flowers...I have 8 tomatoes guaranteed so far coming in, I had to hand pollinate them.
