wet her hair, massage in conditioner (deep conditioner if you have) or hot oil treatment, let it sit for a few mins, then use a hair pick or wide tooth comb to go through sections at a time. if it is really bad you might have to add more conditioner to the inner sections. should do the trick but may take patience to get through it depending on how long her hair is.

I can't remember what kind I have at home, but it's an orange bottle (johnson's buddies maybe?). You spray it on wet hair and it really works well.
