Have you or anyone you have known had to board there dog at a kennel while on vacation? We are not taking our dog we are boarding him at a kennel, I went to talked to the people there and toured the kennel its very nice very clean the people are very nice people and I took our dog there on Tuesday for "doggie daycare" to see how he would do because we have never done this with him before and when I went to pick him up they said he was fine he played with the other dogs when they took them out he was just a little scared when alot of the dogs started barking when they were in there kennel and he was happy. I guess its just me knowing that we are leaving him for a whole week and we have never done it before and plus we adopted him and he came from a puppy mill...you know all that kind of stuff. Please dont tell me any horror stories just wondering how many people have done this and have had good experiences

thanks

The place we boarded him at even has web cams so we were able to get online everyday and see what he was doing. He was 4 months when we boarded him the 1st time and we are about to go out of town for another week and will be boarding him again. I would suggest taking some of his favorite toys and snacks to the kennel as well as his regular food. I don't know what kind of dog you have nor his/her temperment but i'm sure they will be fine. I hope they make lots of new doggie friends, I know Coby did. :) Have a good and safe trip! hth :)

we have a golden retriever. He is very friendly. he is about 18 months old. Like I said we adopted him and they didnt know his exact age and the vet gave us an about age for him so between all that we figured around 18months. He is a little shy but he has never tried to bite anyone or anything. I am sure he will be fine its just me worrying about my "baby" 3|2|That's what Coby is! lol How cool! I am sure he will be fine! :)|pussecat|pu55ecat@aol.com|08:36:54|07/10/2009|

Some dogs don't board too well and won't eat. We counteracted this by sending lots of dog treats that we knew she would eat. We also sent our own food, even if they provided, but that was partly because she had a sensitive stomach. One kennel owner told me they flavor their water with a bit of lemon because dogs can taste the difference in the water and sometimes refuse if it doesn't taste like home. Can you clip his claws before you board? Our dog always came home with shredded nails because she tried to get out. We also sent a nice, fluffy doggie bed.

and I will be taking his own food because he eats a different kind of food then what they provide and i dont want him switching food so i'm taking that. no bedding is allowed to come from home so i bought him a new chew toy and i'm taking him some of those like raw hide bones but they arent raw hide they are the real bone because he loves those and i'm taking him a box of his favorite biscuits so like i said i'm sure he will be fine its just me worrying because i have never had to board any of our pets before. my folks use to keep our boston terrier we had but then when she passed away and we got another dog we got this big whomping retriever and my folks arent able to take care of him because he is to big so thats why we went with this kennel.

thanks for your comments
