My dh and I took off August 3 - 9th off for a family vacation....as usual, the planning is up to me...I have two kids 14 (boy) and 5 (girl)....we live in Cape Cod,,,so we've been to the places around here....and have been to Disney, Storyland, Santas Village, Six Gun City, etc....
We're looking to go someplace exciting.....(not out of the country)....that is kid friendly...yet not too amusement park type....
Please, PLEASE, if you have any suggestions, I'd appreciate them...

We are going there to rent a cabin this summer for our vacation. We have been there now 4 times and have rented a cabin everytime. This year its in a resort with a pool and lots of stuff to do in the resort but there is soo much to do there without going to dollyewood.

Took 4 1/2 and 9 1/2 year old sons to CA. Legoland in Dec. Both loved it; plenty of fun to keep both entertained. The rides are great; the creations are great. We have been to most amusement parks and this is number one in my book. There are short lines, tickets are very affordable (check ebay and calsbad CA craigslist for the best bargains)and the whole family had a wonderful time for both the days we attended.

good for children under 10 years old. not good for 13 years old or teenager.
we have been to legoland couple of years ago in ca. my son was 15 or 16 years old and my daughter was 6 or 7 years old.

if you are coming go ca. go to legoland and san diego zoo and sea world in same area in southern calif. also try go to old town history in san diego.
check with crazymom3 where she live in san diego county. would be helpful for information in san diego area.

try out some of the historical sites and activities on your way home. I think they still shoot off the canons at fort ticonderoga. You could check out the springs in saratoga.

Okay...so I finally made the decisions and booked the trip.....I love my dh but I wish he wouldn't leave it all on me to make all the decisions....
Anyway....I booked a trip to Florida....and I think I did great for prices....did the whole thing for $2,900 that includes:
Non stop airfare for 4 roundtrip from MA to FL
6 nights in an upgraded two room suite
6 Day premium rental car
2 Days at Universal
2 Days at Sea World and Aquatica
1 Day at Disney

We went there years ago with kids and it is so good.There are all kinds of shows going on all day long.Also Universal Studios had great ones too.We also went to an alligator show in jacksonville,Fl and also took kids to Cape Kennedy.Very interesting.We parked our camper at a K.O.A and drove to these places.(they also have cabins to rent)Also went to Cypress garden,(beautiful)and of course Disney World,also Silver Springs where you ride underwater and can take boatrides.Its been well over 10 years,but so much fun.Hope you have a blast wherever you go!
