Whatever happened to trading my stuff for your stuff EPOP? I'm sorry but if you want my stuff and I want your stuff why should I have to pay YOUR postage when you're getting stuff too? kwim? (I'm not talking about me trading my stamps or cc or pphf for your stuff, I'm talking about my stuff for your stuff.) Ah, the "good ole days".

I mean on the trades where both people have to send stuff (except cc, pphf, or stamps), I firmly believe in EPOP. They are sending and you are sending. Do they think that their end is worth more than yours so they need a stamp? That's just nuts.. but I bet there are people willing to do those trades. If another trader is willing to add a stamp to help for some reason, than that's ok, but to ask for it. But I'm no expert.
I would tend to not trade with people who ask me for postage when I have to mail stuff too (again, except in cc, pphf or stamp only trades).

that's why i stop trading with some traders who want stamp for mailing
or stamp on their wishlist or sase. stamp is expenisive. i am not rich.
i like EPOP.
plus i have no choice if i want stuffs so badly then i would to have to send for their stamp postage.
i know i will reduce my trading in the future.

her response (in a nutshell) was that 99% of traders now ask for postage on top of the trade goods they receive and what she's trading her goods for is a charitable item and thus she reeps no rewards for trading for them so she asks for her postage back. i told her that i have been trading since 1997 and that people trading goods for goods has always been epop and that people trading items for cash or stamps has always been they ask for their postage back but that i had seen a lot more people asking for postage when they trade goods for goods and that i will be one who will NOT trade that way as it is not fair imho.

that she's been trading since the 70's and it's always been this way and she has no problem trading her stuff. i said ok........... i said it was no problem but that i (personally) will not trade that way.

As far as I can remember, it's always been EPOP when trading goods-4-goods or even trading goods-4-concealed cash or stamps, when BOTH parties are snail mailing. When online trading came onto the scene & became more common, along w/PayPal payments, then including the postage became commonplace if sending PayPal. Otherwise, the only time postage on top of the trade came into the picture was if someone was answering an ad in a printed magazine where a SASE was requested/required in the ad in order to receive the goods.
Maybe *I'm* old-fashioned or just plain stubborn but I refuse to pay the other person's postage when we're BOTH sending snail mail, be it goods, cash or stamps. If what they're sending to me requires xtra postage in addition to the regular 44¢ (or whatever the 1st class rate is at the time), I will gladly pay that xtra postage (for the actual trade items, NOT "xtras" tucked in at their choosing). And if I'm sending PayPal, I will gladly pay the postage then too since I won't be snail mailing my end.
This is what I feel is fair. If we're BOTH sending snail mail, I don't expect someone to pay for my postage so I wouldn't expect to pay theirs either. Especially since we're BOTH getting what we want.
Please identify yourself in 1st email. If I haven't traded w/you before, I will require *legit* trade references & will gladly provide the same.

I agree completely with Pussecat.
Our stuff is just as valuable as someone else's stuff so why should we have to pay postage to receive other person's stuff. Each always paid their own postage.

a few months back I was going to trade this person a box of candles for some monkey items all was set then she said she wanted me to pay

I just don't need anything that badly. What about traders making $$ on postage? Like .44 postage for EACH set of 40 coupons. so, 100 coupons you have to pay 3-.44 for postage. I know darn well 100 coupons costs .61 or .78 to mail...not over $1.30. i have only been trading Seriously (like an everyday thing) for about 3 or 4 years...
i got TRICKED a WHOLE HECK of ALOT OF TIMES LOL
into the pay for my postage and yours.. cause i didn't know how it all worked till some kind refunders told me and helped me out (AND my 20+ year refunder sister told me.. "are you stupid or what" ? ) LOLOL
i got ripped off a few times like offering way too mnay stamps or way too many things for 1 item.. and YES These people take advantage of alot of people till they start thinking.. hey i can get rich off this.. and do this with everyone ..
till everyone stops trading with them ,...they won't quit.. sad enough with today's economy there will always be "newbies" to take advantage of..why do you think the "OLD TIME "BAD TRADERS" " are still around?
get the word out by helping each other and they will hopefully either decide
"i have to trash it or pay my own postage"
they will either decide hey we're both getting something or we're both getting nothing .. in which case.. they no longer would need to be doing this hobby..

That isn't the rule as we aren't a governed state....but it has been the accepted ettiquette and standard of conduct for years. I had posted a form recently for 25¢ each. A gal wanted one form and asked to trade EPOP. So, she would have sent me 25¢ in a 44¢ stamped envelope and expected me to send her the one form in my 44¢ stamped envelope. On that trade, I would have lost 19¢. I told her that I would not do that and I never heard back from her. I had never traded with her before and did not want to do a RAOK - which I do all the time anyway - to my regular traders/friends.
Go figure!
