I have seen it on TV and I seen it in Sunday's Walgreen's paper for $39.99. It replaces your telephone line but you still use your telephone??? Can someone smarter than I explain this to me? Also, how will it work with cell phone/ no land lines?

when a call comes through it goes through your computer, internet cable...some people like this as you can get rid of your regular landline phone, and can make free long distance calls because your phone goes through the interent so to speak...making it free..some people though do get dropped calls or if your interent goes down...well your phone won't work either...I see that as a downfall.

we have city owned utilities so I will have to call them to see if we are able to use Magic Jack.
But another question, which is probably totally stupid, but what phone number would you have then if you gave up your landline. OR is it outgoing phone calls only? We do not have a landline, only cell phones, but with my kids I would like to get a regular phone number bc it is confusing for them when to use the area code (cell phone) and when they just use the prefix (landline). And then of course, for 911 and phone skills too.

When you buy it you only get a 1 year usage license...then you have to "renew" after the first year.

i purchased one.....plugged it it..........and it worked for me...........BUT.......i have hughes net.....and when you talk.......the other person dont hear what you
say for 2-3 mins.................it was way delayed..........i took it back and got my $ money back..but i have a SIL.....who has bellsouth internet.......and it works great for her......
