but don't fear just yet. most judges don't do "buy outs" unless there is a LOT of money or equity involved. AND if you can prove (cashed checks, iou's, ect) that your parents have "bailed ya'll out" even ONCE it will work in your favor. chin up! it'll be ok! :) hugs!

I am living proof that through all of this you will become a stronger woman and i completly believe that. Im not sure if you have kept up with any of my post but i recently divorced to and its been a mess but i am a stronger happier person now. If you need to talk feel free to email me any time. Dont let him scare you with saying stuff because they have a tendency to say alot of things when going through a divorce that really dont mean crap, lol. Literally what Judges would do for divorce clients when I worked for an attorney was get a complete list of everything. Retirement - that usually meant a QDRO, a Qualified Domestic Relations Order - that was the paper work needed to get the spouse half of their hubby's pension/IRA/401(k). What it basically did was segregate the money.
Half of the house? You'd have to have the house valued in order to do that. Remember, house values have plumetted. Why should he get 50K if your house value has tanked (like mine?) You'd have to get a realtor to appraise it. There's a trend going now and that is people who can't afford to get divorced because, most of the time, their house values tanked and they are negative equity or at least low enough they couldn't sell and even break even after they paid closing costs.
You guys would need to value everything to even think of divvying things up. Plus, even if you can't buy out of something now, like a car, there's no guarantee he'd take care of the paper work later down the line. I know someone who has been divorced for over a decade and who's ex said he'd pay off the repo and guess what? It is still not paid and it shows up on her credit. Nice!
I mention this because like I said, there's a lot of people who can't divorce it seems because of money. Be diligent about getting each other off of accounts like credit cards, etc. and get everything in writing on who is paying what. But definitely get the house valued if you want to split that.
