I'm stressing my landlord told me June 1 I have to move because she wasn't up to the village building codes. There is mold in our water pipes so they have to tear down our walls. I ask her if I leave for a few weeks or so and come back and she said no she is selling the place. My lease ends Aug 1. I'm a single mother with 2 children and I have to move on my own. I want to pull out my hair because I can't really afford to move. Does anyone know any moving specials or anything? How do I start moving? What do I do? I haven't moved for 17 years. My son was only 11 months when we moved here and my daughter was born here. My son isn;t to sad, but my daughter is very upset this is the place she grew up in with her grandma and her grandma passed away and that took a toll on her... She doesn't want to move away from her friends and school.....

I'm a single mom too. I moved several times when my son was little. Before each move I started collecting boxes from the grocery store and packing away stuff we did'nt need, like winter clothes, toys etc..Leave one box out of toys for kiddos...everything else gets packed away. I marked all my boxes on them what was in them, and then put bathroom, living room etc, in a big letters along the side of boxes...

For the times I knew in advance that I wanted to move, if needed I got a 2nd job to help come up with the security deposit/first months rent..

Start getting the paper now and start looking though the classified ads as people often post apartment for rent several months in advance, you also get a idea of how much the rents are going for and hopefully can find one within your budget.
Most of my apartment were small, 1 bedrooms, but I turned the dining room into my own rooms, just put up a screen to block it off..

Most housing authoritys have the forms for the section 8 assistance.

I always just rented one of those little u-haul trucks.. around $100 plus the gas..
you have to have a credit card number available last time I rented one.
