Hello Everybody,
I know most of you have heard that Betty's Munns grandson Cooper has got to have surgery to remove his Gallbladder he is not but 7 years old. I think it would be nice to send cards his way to let him know we are thinking of him and wishing him "Get Well Wishes" and for a speedy recovery. I really think this would brighten this little boys day and he would be thrilled to see all the cards.

First I want to thank everyone for sending cards, hugs and prayers for Cooper. He is a real trooper going thru what he has been thru and the end is almost in sight and maybe he will be home by this weekend.
He developed some complications today and they had to transfer him from the hospital here in Raleigh to the UNC Childrens Hospital in Chapel Hill today. He has a blockage in his bile duct that they are going to remove in the morning at 8:00 and within 24 to 48 hours they will remove his gall bladder and after that they say he will be on his way to recovery and should be good as new once he recovers from this and gets his strenght back. He has not had anything to eat or drink since last Friday but he has not complained about being hungry or thirsty at all. He is very weak and it will take some time to get his strenght back.

Cooper was supposed to have his surgery today to remove the blockage in his bile duct.
The surgery did not take place because his pancreas levels were too high--the levels should be under 100 and his this morning were over 1000 so back to more MRI's and ultrasounds to see if they can find anything else going on and as of right now have not heard anything from those tests.
They say they will work on getting the levels down and hope to do the surgery Friday and they say they will remove the blockage and the gall bladder all at the same time now so we shall see.
He is still in good spirits but a little disappointed today because the doctors had told him after the surgery they would start him on some food and liquids and now he cannot have anything and has not had anything to eat or drink since June 5th.
Hopefully the next update will be good news.
Thanks again for the all the cyber hugs, prayers and just thinking about us as it means more than you will ever know.

Things really changed for Cooper today as they worked hard to find the source as to why his pancreas levels were so high
Another MRI and ultrasound revealed that he has a cyst in his common bile duct that he has had since birth.
He will have to have 2 surgeries and the first one will be tomorrow and they will go down his throat and put a stent in and do some prep work and clean up and get ready for the big surgery
After he heals from the surgery tomorrow they will make about a 6 inch incision and they are going to remove his gall bladder and his common bile duct and cut off a portion of his intestines and make a new common bile duct and attach it to his pancreas and liver.
The doctors have told Shelley and David that when this is all over he will be good as new with no problems
This is a very rare condition and this surgery is only done maybe twice a year at Children's Hospital in Chapel Hill
We went to see him tonight and he was in good spirits and he had some chicken broth and jello to eat and he told me all the things he wants me to cook for him after he gets home.
