b/c I'm not going to fib with Paypal and fear losing my account and money
and I also don't want to deal with cash/stamps via the mail..b/c the PO sucks too.

So this is the only way I guess we can do this but we all have to do it right? What a pain. 1|1|The main drawback I see to RME is there is no way to dispute or make claims...so if I was to use RME it would only be for the traders I have come to trust implicitly....which is fine with me, I would be willing to sign up.|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|20:15:09|05/29/2009|

I don't like giving my social security number to a site I don't know much about.

I won't jeopardize my paypal account - I need to use my business account for ebay. 4|2|Go to the home page for RME and read the FAQ page and the About Us page...it'll give info on their security, and the CEO is Steve Case, the co-founder of AOL, so I feel secure with using it. Based on a lot of input at another site. The people there have been members of RME since it opened last year I think. Everyone who uses RME said it was great and they had no problems. I don't think I receive one negative comment about it. I received my first payment to RME yesterday. Everything went smoothly.

And there is no way to file claims or disputes using cash/stamps thru post office either except if you buy insurance or delivery confirmation which means more expense. So it kind of limits you to only using paypal with new customers until they deem themselves worthy of being trusted.

7|2|Being able to file a dispute is what protects the buyer at PP, so I use PP for trading with new-to-me traders just for that reason....I very rarely do cc/stamp trades now.|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|23:06:00|05/29/2009|

All banking institutions require a SS#.

*******************************************

Here is the info from the RME site:

Q. Why do I have to provide my Social Security Number?

A. We ask for your Social Security Number as a security measure to protect your financial information. Your Social Security Number is used to confirm your identity by cross-referencing it against the other personal data you provide. This helps us avoid someone setting up an account in your name.

In addition, to help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify and record information that identifies each person who opens an account.

What this means for you: When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask for other identifying documents.

Three banks failed and closed their doors and one is restructuring under different ownership. These economic times are difficult even for banks. I live in Florida. Up until this first bank failure about ten months ago I always laughed at my Mom who warned about these things happening because she lived thru the depression and saw it first hand. Now it has happened here (she even had money in one of the banks) and she has the last laugh!!!

I want to keep trading cpns but I am on the fence as to what to do. Right now I'm going to wait and see what others are doing and wonder if the cpn trading days are dying up, at least for the small time traders. What do you think?

I love my computer because my friends live in it. 13|2|Personally I'm sticking with pp|teener|teenerzacsneenee@yahoo.com|14:47:47|05/30/2009|

15|2|Weren't these banks backed by the FDIC?|Arizona|vbj48@cox.net|14:53:04|05/30/2009|

No one should have lost their money with these banks unless they had accounts that weren't insured by FDIC.

Did people lose money who had FDIC insured accounts? 17|3|Yes, these banks were FDIC insured but money was tied up for a short time and there was also a run on one of the banks when it became common knowledge that they were in trouble.|Gammiesue|snschapin@yahoo.com|16:41:24|05/30/2009|

It will probably be cheaper than having to send cash through the mail system. That is so risky anymore. Guess we will be back to writing checks - which is another expense and brings on a whole new set of problems.

Have you ever had a trader bounce a check? I have. 18|2|JUst a thought-how about splitting the paypal fees, buyer and seller|BusterBrown|srfreezerqueen@hotmail.com|16:59:57|05/30/2009|

once we get used to the new fee schedule.....there could be a master list on one of the lesser used boards as to fees....splitting it seems fair....if you know/trust the trader. Perhaps someone new could cover the fees in order to complete the trade/build up feedback....just a thought...Jodie 19|1|I will continue to use paypal, but I will have to charge a fee. on my trade posts about having the charge a fee so everyone knows why there's a fee added to the total.

I really don't like the change, but I wondered how long paypal would let us use personal accounts for the trading and other items. Just another way for them to nickel and dime us.

I do believe it will cut down on the amount of trades that will be done. It's a shame for all of us who want to save money and who just want to make a little bit to try to make ends meet.
