we got home around 8:15..
when we got home copper was gagging..and sneezing like he had allergies really bad...johns like maybe a walk will do him good..they love walks..so he left..i started cleaning up the kitchen...3 or 4 minutes later..john runs in the house yelling shelly, come on lets go..coppers really bad..i see john he has blood all over his shirt..copper has blood on him..and I literally freak out...haley was in the shower..i scream to her that we are taking copper to the doctor..everything happened so fast..and of course, the emergency vet has to be 10 to 12 minutes away....i'm crying so hard...i can't even type in the address in the garmin...but luckily john had their number in his phone...so on the way there..he calls ..it seemed like forever to get there...we were going like 75 to 80...i was praying the cops wouldn't be around..but we didn't care...we get there...and luckily took him right away... the first thing they noticed was copper was having problems breathing and his tongue was really swollen..so they were like..we have to give him something right away to get his tongue down so it doesn't swell anymore and he can't breathe...then they went from there....they put him to sleep to see what was going on...they found a 4 inch piece of grass that he apparently sniffed and it was close to his lungs...the blood was from the irritation....they gave him some medicine...and said he would still wheeze and choke a little until the irritation was gone..they sent us home with antibiotics and that was it. we get home haley was crying so hard..my mom and sister said haley called and it made them sick because she was crying so hard...we panicked...even john was crying on the way there...it looked really bad...and there was nothing we could do....Last night when we went to bed...John was like like sighing..He's like..I don't think I can handle all of this..He says that when he ran into the house and told me...he thought I was going to faint, but then I just lost it..then haley lost it...then he's trying to drive..and he was worried about me and copper...and then at the vet..I could not quit crying..i was hyperventilating...it was awful..SIGH....it was bad.. but he's better...well not 100%..but much better...I'm so glad...I don't know what we'd do without him. SIGH!!!!!!!!!!!
Man....things change so quick... We had a great sunday... went to Johns dad's birthday party...AND come home to all of this.... I'm a mess...when I was filling in the doctor's information...I couldn't even think of my last name...LOL
I should not get this stressed out.. BUT man....I think this took ages off my life....
Between kids and our dogs....MAN!!!
SO I'm thinking..I should NOT let copper around any more grass. : )

Am jealous that the emergency vet is so close.....have had to make several runs in the last few years, and they are 45 min away.....i agree.....pets can sure age us!! LOL>...
