Hello, haven't been online much, this year has been awful for me so far, but I wanted to warn everyone on here, I had the most horrifing experience a few weeks ago. I bought sergants flea spray at walmart and sprayed it on my cats (I have 6) 3 adults, 3 are about 12 weeks old (the directions said 10 weeks and up so I waited till they were old enough) and I never had a flea problem before (my cats stay inside) but somehow I did so I thought this would help. About 2 hours later the cats were meowing at the top of their lungs, I went out to the living room and found my cats foaming at the mouth, shaking, running around like crazy. a little while later all 6 of my babies started having seizures. I was frantic. It was really bad they were seizing non stop, there body was limp and they werent responding. It was pretty late at night and my vet was closed. I called the animal hospital and they refused to even look at my cats unless I paid $100 per cat upfront, and there was no way I could come up with $600 at 3 am(I think its awful that they care more about money then the life of my cats, I mean you can buy just about anything and then get billed for it later but this place refused) I drove them there begging for help and they refused. I am so lucky they survived till the morning and I rushed them to the vet. they are all OK now but omg what a horrible experience. I love cats and this just broke my heart to see them so sick. I called the sergants line and the best they could say was to give the cats a bath to wash the stuff off (already did that, didn't help) it just makes me so mad that they still keep selling this product that is pretty much poison. problem with hartz flea stuff thats why i only buy flea stuff from my vet. im glad they are ok 2|2|OMG.. how awful. I feel so sorry you had to experience that.. I'm a cat owner and this breaks my heart.. Their should be something like states attorney or BBB notified about this product. It was HORRIBLE! I just had my 2 kittys then and to this day my male cat STILL has a bald spot between his shoulder blades!!! Its bigger than a half dollar in size! The company would do anything! Ever since then I get there flea meds from the vet. I hope all your cats are alright and I am so sorry you and the cats had to go through that! AND the vets should be ashamed of there self!!! REfusing to help sick cats!

Some things like that shouldn't be allowed on store shelves as it is so dangerous w/the chemicals they put in that stuff. :(
I had a similar experience w/one of my dogs & the Hartz flea & tick stuff. He started wheezing, coughing & shaking. Called my vet & she said to get it washed off real good asap. Fortunately, that worked but I won't buy ANY of that stuff anymore - only use Frontline Plus from the vet. My vet said the chemicals in that stuff are so dangerous because they're much stronger than needed & are not even tested for pet safety! She said it is definitely NOT for small animals at all.
And terrible, terrible shame on that vet for being so greedy & heartless! :( Our pets are our "small children", just as helpless & innocent, & for them to care more about the stupid money then the suffering cats speaks volumes about their character. I'd never bring my pets back to them & would make sure to blab it all over just how nasty they were! This may sound kind of crazy but just an FYI - if/when a vet is unavailable or unwilling to help, it never hurts to try seeking help at a local hospital's ER. The medical staff is quite likely familiar w/the chemicals that are in those flea & tick sprays/soaps/powders so may know what to do to counter-act the affects. Something to keep in mind..... ;)
And last but not least, ALWAYS keep the packaging/containers things like that come in til you're sure there will be no nasty reactions after applying, even if you've used the product before w/no problems.

YOu could try that. It seems odd that all 6 would have seizures. Glad your kitties are ok and yes, it is a shame they are so worried about money. They always are. I've paid a TON of money for emergency vets before. It's about the money... very sad.
