20 0|0|anyone make a home-made tomato 'Topsy-Turvey' hanger? (M)|mindylou86|mindylou86@gmail.com|20:26:54|05/01/2009|

I want to get one for Mom for Mother's Day, but I would like to make one if I could. Anyone have any luck with a 'home-made' equivalent? I thought about using a milk bottle or 2-liter soda bottle, but I did not know if it would get brittle in the sun, or what to use for a hanger.
Melinda 1|1|For a hanger, poke three holes around the top edge (after you cut off the top part of the milk jug or bottle), then tie three pieces of strong twine, one in each hole...tie all three piece together at the end and you'll have the hanger...you could loop the twine around and make a square knot to have a loop to hang it by. :) I would also suggest poking a few drainage holes in the bottom before filling it. |saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|20:59:41|05/01/2009|

"Middle age is when you choose your cereal for the fiber, not the toy." 2|1|We just made one with a Bucket. You can use a Cat Litter bucket, spackle bucket, etc. |skyyblonde|hannahsheavenlyhaven@comcast.net|21:09:00|05/01/2009|

Drill a hole under the bucket, flip it over and pour the soil in with the plant or seeds (we used a tomatoe plant)Hung in upside down on our patio and it is Thriving! My DD drew pictures and we tape it around the bucket (to hid the writing). Very easy to do.

Please leave feedback for me. Thanks!

it is doing wonderful. They kids will be able to have strawberries tomorrow....I put holes on the upper sides and put string through to hang mine. I cut four holes along the middle sides instead of in the bottom and have my strawberry plants coming out of each hole. I have to put my dig camera software on this pc so I can post a pic. It was very easy to make 6|2|Oh, I'd love to see a pic of yours :) What else can you grow in these things?|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|11:25:23|05/02/2009|
