I moved to Arizona the first time in 1993 with my ex-husband, we bought a trailer and an acre of property in a very rural area. I loved it. Alot of people didn't think I'd like it, due to living in big cities etc all my life, but they were wrong, I prefer rural/small town living. We left Arizona (due to job) and came to VA in 1994, we bought a place in a rural town with 4 acres, it was great. The town only had a post office, no stop lights nothing. Then when Will and I got together, we lived in a rural town here in VA and loved it then when we were in Arizona, we lived in Black Canyon City, which is very small town and the people were just so friendly. Anyways before you do make a choice, go over all your options and do reasearch on where you want to be. Do you have any ideas? Hugs, Rebekka

You have a stop light! We don't even rate a 4-way stop sign. I moved from the big city shortly after college. Give me a small town any day!

note....sorry RebekkaVA.....I thought you bragging you HAD a stop light! LOL nm

If you are a coupon fanatic, you might have severe withdrawal if you live in a small town. I moved from doubling up to .99 in a decent sized city to having just a Food Lion (no doubles) and an overpriced Mom & Pop store and a Rite Aid nearby. There's also a Family Dollar and a Dollar General has come to town since I moved here...

Nearest big city with a variety of grocery stores is an hour away... so is CVS. So if you are a major deal getter, please look into what's where you want to be. I'd do more deals if I didn't have to exhaust myself driving there ;) Small towns = less amenities, but the taxes are generally cheaper. Plus, I'll be honest, the schools aren't that great here and that is a big concern for us. So definitely look at schools and shopping.

I lived in San Jose, CA till my 20's. I moved to an itty bitty town pop of 2500, 10 years ago... The adjustment was hard at first. I was used to everything being 5 minutes away if i wanted something. The closest Walmart, Mall, Lowes, Costco etc is an hour away now.

Adjusting took a while but now I wouldn't move for anything. And the best part is nobody uses coupons here... Everything is always well stocked :) and rarely do I lose out on any deals.

were we lived our kids were in private school, and it was getting more and more expensive. Plus you had to worry about them even playing out in the yard and we had been robbed before. So we decided to move to a small town where they could go to public school. It was a great idea, but took some getting used to. One issue was the townies do not like newbies, lol. Lots of people have raised families here for generations. Another issue for us is that there are not a lot of ethnic groups, so we have had to work to make sure our kids spent time with others outside of this small town. We go to church an hour away were there is a lot more diversity, and we have made sure they had friends there, and did volunteer work in other areas. We have good shoppping within a half hour, Chicago within an hour, so we can have a little bit of both city and small town.

We are currently house hunting and I want to get out of the city but NOT completely. We definetly want to be in an area with less people and have an acre between us. We are VERY tired of being squashed together, stuck in traffic and paying ridiculous taxes for what??? We want to be in a more laid back area but we want to see people. So, no boonies for us.lol We just need some space and I need to feel like I'm not going to get hit by a car or another bus. We are also looking for an area that has alot of family things to do.

Hope you find what your looking for...... 8|1|I've done both it is all the same where you live is what you make of the place.|tollman62|thebossatnight@yahoo.com|15:48:26|04/25/2009|

I have a library card in about 8 different counties in NY I have been close to shopping and half an hour from a store. I find the key is to enjoy where you are and where you go.

you always hear noises in the dark when you work at night 9|1|If the Albany/Troy Ny is thought as a city area I moved to a town where about 2 years now we got our one and only traffic light . The only time it gets busy around here is when the tourist start to come in. ( about now) I love it here in Kuttawa Ky and would never move back to Ny or any city again.|nancygal|brennansnanna@hotmail.com|20:03:23|04/25/2009|

I do like the no tax on food.. as opposed to .10¢ on the dollar for food in TN.. I moved from rural to small city.. |car_mont|car_mont@hotmail.com|23:20:20|04/25/2009|
