Zoe is my 14 year old doggie. She has been doing great for a 14 yr old and is the sweetest dog you'd ever meet. Today I called dh from work and he said she was acting strange and hiding under my bed all day. When I got home I was able to coax her out, but she wouldn't stand up. Then dh brought her leash in (she loves her walks) and she did stand up but when she tried to walk she's all hunched over and tends to walk to the right...it's like she can't walk staight. We went for a small walk around the front yard but she kept veering toward the right. Then we came in and she is laying under an end table, every now and then she'll stand up and act like she wants to move, but can't figure out how to. Our other dog had something similar a few years ago, the vet thought she had a stroke, but within 24 hours she was fine, walking up and down steps like nothing had happened. Since she had such a complete recovery the vet thought maybe she had ingested something poisen. We removed a tick from Zoe earlier this week, and there are some types of ticks that cause paralysis....so I am hoping and praying that is what's going on with her. I will take her in to the vet first thing tomorrow if she hasn't improved.

I know she's getting up in years, but I just really hope I don't have to deal with losing her just yet...Any prayers would be appreciated....TIA

Zoe did get up and walk around a bit on Sat morn, but she stumbled a few times and still couldn't walk straight. Her head was also titlting to the side and her eyes were constantly blinking. So we took her into the vet who said she has vestibular syndrome which is usually brought on by trouble in the inner ear drum which controls balance. It can also be a result of trauma or a tumor. Zoe's ears looked fine so the vet took some blood to make sure nothing else is going on with her. The good news is that animals usually show improvement in 72 hours and are completely back to normal in 2 - 3 weeks. Zoe is already doing a lot better. Her eyes have quit twitching, she gets up and walks on her own, she is eating and drinking.....but her head is still tilted and she still veers to the right when walking. Dh and I were so relieved after going to the vet..........now we are just hoping for good results from the blood work.

Thanks for your prayers......really appreciate them.
