10 0|0|Value on "totally free" coupons??|couponshelmd|couponshel@comcast.net|09:10:57|04/10/2009|

Any input, I know each person has their own trade value, but what about totally free coupons, where no other purchase is needed? Is there a general rule of thumb so to speak? Is 10% really the norm? Thanks for any input :)

Shel
Hey, at least it is not another bacon question :) 1|1|Depends is it a free you got from the sunday paper or something else|Kristy|mi3zons1@yahoo.com|09:19:46|04/10/2009|

Frees from the sunday paper are usually valued way different. Frees that you get elsewhere.. I say 50% and so do others I know of on here. 10% is laughable if it's that kind of free.

I know I did not "pay for it" but I did take the time to go register at their site. Also the free Rimmel mascara, it is only good at Walmart, so I guess that makes it worth less; but I did have to buy that issue of All You to get that coupon.

Perhaps 10% is all these are worth, I am just surprised. Thanks Kristy :) 3|3|i thought 30% was the norm for non-SS frees|Beaglesfly|lmllr77@aol.com|09:43:58|04/10/2009|

That's what I'm usually charged and what I usually charge others, depending on the value.

For me, 50% would be approaching nonusability because the purchase price is usually so much lower than the max amount. I realize there's lots of people that live in cities where prices are higher though.

Oh, for SS coupons, IDK, it would depend how "good" of a coupon it was. Free electrasol? Probably almost the same amount as a nonSS free (the 30%)....of course, if everyone got a free electrasol in their paper, I probably couldn't get that much. 4|4|The last time the Electrasol came out, I paid 25cents each for them.....as they are not 'frees', they are $ off... I know alot of people are able to get the product free in a case like the Electrasol, but not all.....I agree on the variability of the value of a free coupon, the max value is often quite a bit higher than the actual retail. I do prefer to trade for frees or trade the frees I have for other frees or coupons/forms I can use rather than trade for PPHF. :)|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|09:46:48|04/10/2009|

So I guess I am not too far out of the ballpark; I have had two folks only offer 10% or less (shipped) and was just surprised at the low offers. In a way I was thinking to get the free mascara to sell at a yard sale because I would make more than "selling" the coupon here. I don't like the flavor choices for the Kashi though, lol and cannot sell a frozen dinner at a yard sale :)

THanks all,

you get the the point where you wonder "what"? Or someone asking 100% value of a gift card in paypal... plus postage!? Why would I pay full price for a gift card and postage to have it shipped to me when I can just transfer paypal to my checking account and use my debit card at that store.

Thanks for the sanity check Lauren, it is nice to know it is not just me trying to figure this stuff out! 8|3|Shel, I can answer one of those for you|Beaglesfly|lmllr77@aol.com|13:53:36|04/10/2009|

The gift card thing is because there are cash back programs where a person would get back up to 18% of what they spent. But they have to buy it through certain venues (like ebay), so people on there are upping the price on the cards.

I am looking for offers in concealed cash ayor ppef or make an offer in????

I mail all my trades from the post office and get a receipt.

you always hear noises in the dark when you work at night 10|2|I'm with tollman (on the seller side) negotiable is the way to go. If I can't use it ten cents is better than no-cents. On the buyer side I usually go see what the selling pirce is here cuz most of the time Free is not Free and I'm cheap so I usually look at 10% to buy |eecwz|eecwz1@gmail.com |08:16:39|04/11/2009|

We just got the "Free" Nabisco Artisian cracker coupon a few weeks ago. Says "FREE" up to 3.49 but the crackers are 4.19 not so free, same with the gum "free" up to 1.19 our store is 1.25. Although I did find the gum at Target for 1.09. Only got 12 have to go back and get more before those expire :)

Thanks for all the great trades. Please leave me feedback here:
