I am getting sick of turning on the news and hearing a story about a family who is on the verge of foreclosure because of job losses and then they show the family and they talk about how the dad went from making 6 figure salary to delivering pizzas and he will say how he had to get rid of one of his 3 brand new cars, the cars worth $30 or $40,000 and how they will lose their big fancy dream home with so many unneeded bells and whistles. I know I sound mean and honestly, I don't know these people or their full story so I can not get upset with them, they probably worked hard for that money and were entitled to do what they want with it, but the news is what annoys me, I wish they would show the average guy or girl, the one who had a regular blue collar job, paid their bills and always had food on the table but could never buy a brand new car or take 3 trips a year and just lost their job and show their struggles, the people who put in time to keep this country going, I believe that these CEO's or mortgage brokers who lost jobs have an education, have connections or they know the game, they will find jobs somewhere, but some of these blue collar people who have worked in one industry their entire lives and maybe did not get a college education or any kind of further education because they had to work their whole lives, will they have the opportunities to, show them on the news and let them get out there in the public eye so someone sees them and says hey maybe I can hire them. I am not trying to start a debate or sound mean, I feel bad for all of them, especially the people in high paying jobs who lost them, they got used to a certain lifestyle that is gone now, but sometimes I just get so annoyed with the news I don;t even know why I watch it, I guess since all day when the kids are around I watch Spongebob so I crave something to make me feel adult like or in the know, but Sponge is a lot more relaxing.

obama wants to take from the rich and give to the poor right? he wants equality in the country, he wants those who have asipred and made something of themselves and made money to help those who haven't anything or don't have any money BUT if the rich are losing their jobs and being reduced to delivernig pizzas who's poor now? how is obama supposed to "spread the wealth" if there is NO WEALTH?

i have no problem hearing or seeing the stories of these people. most of them started off just like you or me after high school, with nothing except a diploma, a low paying job and possibly a beat up ole wrecker mom or dad helped them pay for (and some bought them on their own) so to be "annoyed" that they have to give up one of their cars, or losing their homes is "annoying" to me, on a personal note. the strived for they had/have and it IS sad to see them lose it.

"regular people" with blue collar jobs and no new car are NOT the people who are going to be "spreading the wealth" and i don't know what news stations you are watching but storeis of these people are all over the news here in florida as well as stories of the rich.

i think the big picture here is that obama's answers aren't really answers at all. they are mearly "words" stated in hopes that people will believe him when in fact, they are nothing but lies. lies to keep the american people on his side, but when i see stories like this, of the rich becoming poor i KNOW that "spreading the wealth" is NOT going to work. just look at what's happening in today's society and with today's economy. *shakes head" it's shameful in my opinion, simply shameful.

EDITED TO ADD:

people, don't be "annoyed" by these stories, be THANKFUL you still have a roof over your head, that you aren't losing your home, or your car or your job. and if you have lost any of the forementioned, i am terribly sorry and i wish you all god's speed in recouping your losses!

I said it is the news that annoys me, not the people, I also agree with and said so in my post, these people may have worked hard for everything they earned and they have a huge adjustment going from having money to having to struggle, but even if they were not on the news they will find jobs eventually, why not talk about the regular guy who lost his job and has decided to go back to school or do something to better themselves and maybe they will become the wealthy who help spread it around one day, the country has a lot of poor and low income people in it, maybe if we show stories of someone who is poor-low income striving to do better even against adversity it will encourage others to do the same, and eventually we can all be self-sufficeint and not rely on the governemt (Pipe dream probably), I know I may live in a fantasy world but that is where I think the news should concentrate. The well connected, well educated people know what to do, they know where to go or they know plenty of people to give them free advice, the lower income people don't know all that, when and not if (because it will rebound) the economy kicks back in these people will jump right back in and fnd jobs, why can't they concentrate on the poor and low income people right now, take this time to teach them new skills, further educate them, so when the economy comes back they can jump right in to, except not at the bottom, somewhere better so they can in turn spread the wealth. I dont even know if my thining makes sense, I can not explain it well.

I live outside Tampa and the newspapers are always covering stories like that but the tv news, rarely.

if the family's you are talking about are in florida think about this:

they are going from a 6 figure salary to a CAPPED unemployment amount of $275 a WEEK for 33 weeks. that is a HUGE difference as opposed to someone making $25,000 a year going down to a CAPPED $275 a week with only a difference of $205.00 a week as opposed to over (using 100,000 as the amount of the 6 figure salary) $1,923 a week going down to $275. it sure is a lot easier to go from $475 a week to $275 than $1900 to $275.

i'm just saying...................... we need to hear EVERYONE'S stories not just the poor's. the rich are part of this country as well and they have a right to be heard as well.

4|1|I agree w/ you. Another thing that irritates me is|Skaytes|skaytez@gmail.com|08:39:51|03/20/2009|

Posted on Mar-20-09 at 08:39 AM (Eastern) by 67.236.183.227

the home remod shows where the person is upset because their Bedroom( or kitchen or living room etc) needs redone and that room is bigger than the entire square footage of my whole 1st floor of my house! Come on..I would LOVE to have that house just the way it is! I understand that living in CA and their standards are much different from here in the midwest in the middle of corn/cow country but it just floors me to see that. I live in a 100+ year old house and my bathroom is JUST big enough for toilet, sink and handicapped accessible shower and a couple VERY small cabinets. Again, when seeing people complain that their bathrooms or bedrooms are a 'little tight' I would LOVE to have them come and see mine! The money they use to remod with could by me a new home AND land to go with. I see them tossing out perfectly good cabinets etc in the remode and think to myself I know someone who would LOVE to have those but yet, they are going to the dump.

Another annoying thing is prohibiting restaurants to give their leftovers to the homeless in most areas. The basis being that the food could be contaminated. H-E-L-L-L-L-O-O..alot of these people dig thru garbage cans for food and they are worried about the food from the restaurant??! There can be some restrictions..like not giving them leftovers from peoples plates (obviously) but again if they are digging thru trash for food it still is better than that. I know some areas restaurant owners get away with that by having new clean trash cans and santizing them each time and putting food in containers in plastic bags and putting them in the cans at a certain time of day for the homeless to come and get the food, but that is few and far between. To see all the food wasted every single day at restaurants is unreal.

Another thing is stores who deliberately will NOT let the stuff they are going to toss out (perfectly GOOD stuff..like shoes, clothes, or whatever) go to someone who needs them. Know stores that deliberatley destroy one shoe of a pair of shoes so no one can use them. why don't they donate that to the needy and write it off on their taxes? Would do sooo much good and help people but they would rather destroy them.

or another...denying people who are terminally ill with cancer (or other severe illness) meds that have been available for many years in Canada, Mexico, France or where ever. The basis being that one of the side effects are it can kill you. Another "HELLLOO"..they are already dying so why NOT let them try something that may be their only hope for a cure for them and NOT charge them a arm & leg for it as well.

I can go on and on but will stop my rampage here..lol Thanks for letting me vent on this subject! 6|2|i know a store|tarasdream|jumpwoman23@hotmail.com |08:50:46|03/20/2009|

The restraunts give them the bulk left overs Now I don't know if they still do it or not but when we lived here the first time about 17 years ago we hit a deer and when the police got there they called a group who came right out and collected the dear which they took butchered and used it to feed the homelss 12|5|I think all states/cities should do that as well & |Skaytes|skaytez@gmail.com|09:22:52|03/20/2009|

even if there are no 'homeless' in a town, there are plenty of people who are dirt poor who would LOVE to have the restaurant leftovers and the deer meat etc. Too much 'waste' these days.

Also think if we can send monies to other countries to help them out, we definately have the monies to help 'our own' right here in the US. Now..to just get the gov't to use it for our people here to give them food, shelter, clothes etc. ..that is a whole other project on it's own...

that works with restaurants to take leftover, unserved food to homeless shelters... somehow Second Harvest "assumes" the liability so that no one can sue the restaurant; I guess they buy insurance like a doctor has malpractice? I dont know how it works, but it IS possible... they do not have any local chapters here in Central PA because I looked into volunteering. Our local homeless shelter makes you take a training course before you can work with food/volunteer there and I can never afford a babysitter to go take the course. They would not even take homemade Christmas cookies at the holidays unless baked in their kitchen!

I have an immediate family member who is rich/wealthy but goodness knows the money was made on the backs of others and in ways I would consider unethical. I always said if I had to do what I have seen to be rich than its not worth it to me. Now that industries are drying up the person on top is the one loosing out the most and they are not happy about it. Do I feel bad they have to stop driving one of their three high end vehicles because they cant afford the insurance...nope....what I dont think most realize is the wealthy depend on all the smaller jobs that pay less getting done. Thats the case with this family member. I also have a friend who owns lots of property. They made huge money buying real estate and reselling or renting. On the rented properties they would only do patchwork...MINIMAL patchwork at that, not because they could not afford to do it the right way but because they wanted higher profits. Now with the economy lots of these properties are empty and falling apart with state mandated repairs. If the repairs are not done then there are fines. Now its costing more money than ever anticipated. Do I feel bad...nope....this person would pay its workers next to nothing to do work on the property..taking advantage people who were willing to do the work because they needed extra cash and this friend would also make up things that were done "wrong" so they could pay them even less for the work that was done...sad...sad..sad....I personally think everyone is getting a wake up call...the rich..middle class...and this did not happen to the country yesterday....this economy has been predicted for quite a few years now. I know I dont have the answer...sitting here watching coupon boards, running to walgreens/cvs/ and anywhere else that has the deal of the day/week. 19|2|margie, you've seen the story joyce is talking about?|pussecat|pu55ecat@aol.com|10:44:00|03/20/2009|

throughout history there's always been different classes of people - rich, poor, middle-class, nothing new. Today, it's all about class warfare and the middle-class at the rate it's going is becoming poorer & poorer. Throughout history, the middle-class is what keeps the economy running good, but not so right now and I'm very worried what DC is doing in this corrupt mess with the stimulas package (majority of it went to foreign banks overseas) not to the American banks as promised, AIG bonuses, etc., and Obama, Democratic Congress continuing to tax us more and more, especially carbon tax they're talking about is very very bad. Also, Bush tax cuts expire 12/31/10 which will put most of us in a much higher tax bracket. I read that many small business people are going to cut back getting under $250,000 to avoid being in next tax bracket. I saw a commercial last night that half dozen Fortunoff stores are going out of business in northern NJ - such a shame. I just hope we can get out of this mess but will take a very long time. 22|1|Except for tuning in to the weather, I'm glad baseball is now kicking in.....|maraj|maraj64@hotmail.com|17:52:37|03/20/2009|

Something a little more worthwhile to watch that isn't so depressing or in such turmoil. Nice to watch the Cubs playing the Padres. ;)
Every day, someone somewhere is either getting shot, stabbed, in a wreck, stealing from someone, getting busted for drugs or OWI, this/that company/business is laying off workers or closing or there's a battle/war taking place. I don't take pleasure in other people's pain so it's depressing to think about the ones being harmed or killed & their families that are also suffering because of it.
Sometimes you just have to take a break & skip the news part for awhile & watch/read something less distressing......

Think Spring!

23|1|Food waste. I am serve safe certified, in my state. I have worked for some companies, that would not allow donations, because the "company does not want the liability" if the food is reheated unsafely. The boarding school I currently work for, does donate ALL leftovers, to the local soup kitchen, but only because the soup kitchen, has people who are serve safe certified, and sign off on the responsibility, to heat the food to safe temperatures. It is corporate liability, that dictates the waste, a lot of times. Donna|dlpavitt|dlpavitt@att.net|17:59:42|03/20/2009|
