it was very hard also I decieded we should remodel the bathroom at the same time that was a BIG mistake lol, he was very crappy for 3 or 4 weeks, but he was a very heavy smoker 4 or morew pks a day!! I knew if he didn't quit he wasn't going to live long, he does have lung damage now but not to bad, IMO and as a person who used to smoke,cigs are as bad as any drug and should be outlawed same as drugs Linda 7|2|not me but DH quit cold turkey about 5 years ago with no problem, he was hanging around smokers all the time,even when he quit, and never had the urge, I hope he is not but think he is an exception to most people trying to quit|doycosmo|eddie2kevin@tampabay.rr.com|17:36:23|03/15/2009|

I started trying cigarettes in my teen years...by the time I graduated I was a regular smoker.
I hadn't planned on quitting, but dh was quitting for the Great american Smoke Off (held every November) so for some reason I let him talk me into quitting. Well the day of the smoke off was Thursday, but I stretched out my last pack until Saturday. I still don't know why we didn't end up in divorce court...we were sooo on edge.
Well, I stayed off of them until this day. After 2 or 3 years passed I still smoked on occassion...usually if we were out drinking. But the next day I had no cravings for them at all....it was simply a social thing.
Unfortunately, dh stopped and started several more times....even going through hypnosis. About 6 - 8 weeks ago he started taking Chantix and hasn't had a cigarette since.......so I am really hoping he will finally be able to kick the habit.

It was all a matter of keeping my hands busy so DH got me a Super Nintendo and that was all I needed lol. Good luck to those quitting. You'll be happy you did.

My mom was told she has the lungs of a smoker, even though she has never smoked, it is from growing up in a smoking household, and living with my dad for 20 years. After seeing him die such an ugly death because of his heavy smoking, I am so thankful not to pass that along to my children.
