ok..here's the deal..
his family reunion is Easter weekend in Branson, Mo.. they rented a big lodge...really, really nice..
BUT it's also around the time that travis will be going or gone to Korea..and I will not be in the mood to
socialize or do anything else... BUT THEN....when everyone first talked about this get together....the one place
we were trying to get took dogs.. BUT now this place doesn't.. SO that would be copper and bella would have to
go to a doggie lodge? I don't think i can take them there.. they would be sooooo sad... SO now,...hubby thinks this
is all working to my advantage.. because i've already told everyone that I didn't know about me and haley.. because of
course, if i don't go..haley won't go.. BUT anyways...the situation with travis.. AND wah wah wah... I'm just not really
wanting this together...i'm be upset about travis.. and I don't want to leave the dogs... AND well....I just don't know..
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO of course...hubby says.. oh they'll have fun.. they'll like this and this.. AND i'm like NO...
they will not like a doggie lodge and be without us... The army is taking travis away.. AND now, john wants me to leave
copper and bella at a doggie daycare??? tsk tsk tsk...I'm just not buying into all of this!!! 1|1|hmmmm...that's tough|cathy|coggle@hotmail.com|23:26:41|03/08/2009|

on the one hand....being at a family get together may take your mind off of Travis
But on the other hand...Leave your Doggies???? doesn't your dh know who he is dealing with. Who would take care of changing Bella's 35 offits while you were gone???? LOL just kidding
Zoe is 14 and I have never kenneled her. The only time I ever left her with someone other than family I left her with a couple that dog sat in their home. I kenneled my Schnauzer once and that was the last time, she came back to me sick.

If I were in your shoes, I don't think I'd want to be around a bunch of people either, plus I wouldn't want to kennel my furry child either, my puppy dog was so sick one time when Will had to go to California on business and I had to take her to the vet, I thought something was seriously wrong, but found out, she was making herself sick because she missed Will, so I doubt she would ever stay all night without us somewhere. I hope you and hubby can come to an agreement girlie. Hugs, Rebekka

Ite relaly helped me, to see the dogs, had plenty of room. Also many hotels, ill let dogs room together, if the already know each other. I was also able tobring th food the dog was used to eating, as wel as there favorite bedding, and toys. Hope it all works out for you. I know how you feel about Travis but I look at it this way ya can't give up everything each time you get down about him being away You still have Haley there with you and I'm sure she would have a blast at the reunion now I'm sorry if that sounds harsh lol but I remember when Bill was not here and how down I was but ya can't let it change the way you function remember that Travis joined the army because he wanted to I'm sure he thought it out before he did Just remember how proud you were and how happy he was when he graduated :)

My good friend does dog sitting, and she goes to a person's house two or three times a day, and will stay with the dogs for quite a while. She even sleeps over most times that she sits. That way, the dog is not alone nearly as much.

lauren 6|4|Can you stay at the dog-friendly hotel else near their lodge?|couponshelmd|couponshel@comcast.net|09:45:01|03/09/2009|

would anyone understand that you want your fur babies with you and you could stay at the first place that you mentioned takes dogs? Plus, then if you need time alone (with your daughter too)... you could then "retreat" to your hotel and leave the reunion folks at their lodge.

Just a thought, as I will never leave my doggy at a kennel again either... once was enough; she came home very ill, something the vet called kennel cough even though it is not just from going to a kennel. Said it spreads quickly at a kennel, thus the name.

Either way, wishing you peace with this situation. Thank your son for serving, my family is thankful to him for protecting us!

I guess after the 20th after travis graduates..and I know for sure what his plans are..I'll decided.
He graduates from Alabama on the 19th...AND then he's suppose to come home and do a 2 week
hometown recruiting so he'll stay here... and then after that is when he's suppose to go to Korea..
BUT we still have no exact plans.. and i guess that's one of the main problems.. not knowing.
WE can't find a hotel close that will take dogs too... But my sister n law found a pet lodge that is really close to the lodge..
and she says.. they can put copper and bella together in one of those dog runs..so they will be together...and we can
come get them during the day...and just bring them back late evening to "board" them... and we can bring their dog beds, etc.
SO WE'LL see... I guess just knowing about the dog situation.. MADE it easier for me to say.. WELL can't go...
I guess I just have it in my mind..because I know I'll want to be under a rock instead of being with people..
but we'll see...I have a few weeks. alot could change in that time.... thanks everyone for all of your input...
I read things..and i'm like..I know...I know.. BUT then..I don't know!!! Hugs everyone!!

Shelly,

I think you should go. It's only once a year and your still going to think about Travis anyways. If you don't want the dogs to go to a doggy lodge, maybe you could ask a friend or family member to go. What if it was your side? You're one and you really need to be there for your husband. Also, Travis chose to go freely to the Army. The Army didn't take him. Go and be proud and talk about Travis. It will make you all feel sooo much better.

Hugs,

you going. Perhaps your sister in NC could go.? lol 10|1|Hey Shelly, I think I would go since you can bring the dogs in the daytime|Mackiesmudder|Mackiesmudder@aol.com|17:16:04|03/09/2009|

and board them at night. Many years ago, Amy and I planned to go to Aruba, had everything arranged and then could not find a place I was happy with for Mackie, we cancelled our trip, neither one of us regretted it. A few years after that, we went to Disney in Florida, BUT, we left from Atlantic city airport, near my Mom, and they had a kennel that they used and were thrilled with and that is where we left Mackie. The people there liked Mac so much that he ran free with their 2 dogs, i really, really think he had a great time! I drove them crazy calling them, LOL.
I think i would go to make your DH happy, if you can see your babies, it will be all good! : )
Cathie 11|1|It is just MHO but I would send the dogs to day care. I bet if you ask Travis he would say the same thing. MOM dont stay home and be sad over me I can hear him now. The dogs will have a great time I know my belle did yes sad when we first left because she thought she was at the vets but when she got to play and get extra attention they said she did just fine and the welcome home we got from her was fantastic. Go try to have a good time relaxe abit. another thing to concider is that Travis would feel bad if he knew you were home pineing away for him.Again just mho.|nancygal|brennansnanna@hotmail.com|18:49:39|03/09/2009|

of kennels but sometimes it's necessary. Be sure to get your dogs covered for kennel cough! It must be given a couple of weeks before boarding. The vet squirts it up their nose. Most kennels require this anyway. Go have a good time. The most important thing is the dogs will be safe. Tho' not as happy as if you were with them. As with your son...in their eyes no one can replace you!
