7 0|0|anyone have the info on reading barcodes?|Skaytes|skaytez@gmail.com|03:04:02|03/03/2009|
I have a friend who is just getting into using coupons heavily and wanted her to know the info on the barcodes. How they work and how to read them etc. I know it's been posted before, but I sure can't find the info.
Thanks for the help! Appreciate it!

do you mean for what the UPC would be for? or do you mean what it will scan on? or do you mean like certain numbers do(n't) double, etc?
I would be curious to read any info on any one of the above topics so if you don't mind sharing the info, i would appreciate it =)
Thanks Kathy!
Stacey =)

5 21000 10076
the first digit is 5 or 9. This indicates if the coupon is coded to double or not.
the next set of 5 numbers are the manufacturer code. In this case 21000 is Kraft.
The next set of 5 are divided the first 3 of the 5 are the specific item number (like Cheddar cheese vs Swiss cheese or shreds vs slices).
The last 2 of that 5 indicate the value of the coupon. In the one posted 76 is $1/1
Some common values:
00-cashier intervention check for product
01-cashier intervention price needed (like free coupons)
30-.30/1
33-$1/2
50-.50/1
75-.75/1
76-$1/1
78-$1.50/1
82-$2/1
87-$3/1
51-$2/2
74-$5/1
61-$10/1
I looked and looked and found no coupons for troll food......SO, I don't feed the trolls!!
