My husband Dave went for his 3rd chemo treatment on Wednesday. He was so sick that they would not give him the treatment. He weighed in at 159# - he started at 205#. So, instead they decided to do a cat scan of his stomach and brain.
The brain scan was normal. However, the scan of his stomach is not good. The nodule on his liver is 30% larger and he now has cancer in his stomach and bowel. We talked to the house doctor who said that it doesn't look good. They are talking about doing some kind of surgery to bypass his stomach, possibly a feeding tube, so that he will be getting some nutrition. They are suppose to have options for us on Monday. Right now he is a patient at the Cleveland Clinic and they are just manging his pain.
Supposedly this cancer has nothing to do with his kidney cancer. That surgery was a success. This cancer is harder to detect, is very agressive and even harder to treat.
We have been told that he has only months to live. They wouldn't tell us how many, just to appreciate what time he does have. Last night he looked terrible. He has an IV for fluids and a morphine drip. All he does is sleep and he has no color to his face. I am praying the doctors are right that he has a few more months and not just days or weeks. But if you would see him I think you would have your doubts too.
2009 was suppose to be our year. In July we will be married 40 years. In September we both
turn 60 and this year we both were going to retire. On February 11th, Dave was at the post office 41 years!!!!!!!!
Please keep us in thoughts and prayers...We really need them.
