The Disability Tax Credit (DTC) is a federal income tax based credit awarded to those who suffer with a marked restriction in an activity of daily living such as walking, dressing, mental functions, feeding, hearing, vision, elimination, life sustaining therapy and/or their cumulative effects. The DTC can be applied to current and future years, and retroactive benefits can be claimed for up to ten previous years (where applicable). This could result in potentially significant income tax refunds.
