Okay,,,maybe you can tell I've had a rough day....
I sometimes sit in stinkin' amazement that my two kids can argue non stop ...seriously you'd think that my 14 year old son and 5 year old daughter would have no reason to argue,,,but there the two of them are ...arguing non stop about ridiculousness.....seriously.....there are three floors to my house...a giant media room, seven televisions, every stinkin' game system that has been made within the last five years with numerous games, and much more,,,tonight I've simply had it...so I'm ignoring them both..........I'm tired of playing referree,,,,I'm sick of yelling, I'm sick of trying to reason, etc .....each one of them will be in their room the ENTIRE night....because I refuse to listen to it. Some day off!

Been there many days and in fact that is one of the things that motivates me to leave the house at night to exercise/jog/walk. So, sometimes I do literally run away from my family!
I'm told that they all grow up fast, but on days like you describe that can be hard to see.
Do something nice for yourself.

with eachother, you can hear it in the whole building..I would just like a break from it all, a chance to have some quiet, and no cooking involved unless I can cook sweets for dinner..lol!! and leave the house a mess..lol!!

with dh working out of town...I have been eating some strange things for dinner and I have also been turning into a slob. I had a super busy week at school last week and the house really got out of control. On Friday I left school and went right to the airport to pick up dh and didn't have time to go home and pick up. I kept telling him "Don't look at the messy house....and if you want to live....don't say anything about it either"

My oldest must have been about 11 and her sister was 6 at the time. They drove me INSANE. I tried everything I could to make them stop and then I decided that I could not stop them from arguing, but I did not have to listen to them (especially when they were whiny!), so I told them that they could argue all they wanted but if they wanted to tell me about it (any of it) they had to tell me in a song. Some days I announced that it was "country day" or "rock day" or whatever and then the song had to be country or rock. What happened is that every time they started to tell me, I would interrupt and remind them they had to sing. Inevitably as they stood there thinking of how to sing it, they would both erupt into laughter. I think it taught them to laugh at themselves and each other and they are a lot nicer to one another now.
So tell them to sing away!
