3|1|My puppy dog loves walks, it was so funny cause a cow got loose from the farm next door and was over here running by the creek and our dog was barking up a storm, the cow took off like a jet~LOL|RebekkaVA|queen_vulture@msn.com|23:09:37|02/07/2009|

Your post about your dog and the cow reminds me of my little Schnauzer, Trixie. She's no longer with us, but a few years ago our fenced back yard was up against an 80 acre farm. Every so often some of the cattle would end up down by our fence and Trixie would run up to the fence and bark her fool head off. We always said she had an identity crisis and thought she was a bull dog. She didn't bother the cows a bit, in fact they never even looked up at her. Our other dog, Zoe, (who is bigger than Trixie, but a major wimp)would never run up to the cows unless Trixie was there to "protect" her. They were quite a pair.

Awwwwwwwwww that is so cute about Trixie...Maybe she thought she was a herding dog...LOL...I know our puppy is a Beauceron and they are herding dogs, so I figured that is why she was after that cow...LOL...It's funny cause other little things scare the poop out of her...ROFL...I had a dalmatian and he loved to chase all the livestock and such, I use to live on 4 acres in a wooded area and he was never happy about staying on the property, he always wanted to run and chase other animals and play with them...Hugs, Rebekka

Trixie was just a super protective dog......she barked at eveyone and everything. We never had to worry about anyone coming near our house unannounced...Trixie would always let us know...LOUD and CLEAR. As she got older and lost her hearing Zoe became her ears. The doorbell would ring and Trixie would just sleep right thru it, but Zoe would run towards the door and nudge Trixie as she went by her. Then Trix would join her and do what she did best....bark

That is good to have such a wonderful watch dog, Sabrina is the same way, I really wish we had another puppy for her, she is so good with doggies and she also loves kitties...Our friends had a daschund back in AZ and Sabrina thought she was her baby...LOL...It was sooooooooooo cute...Zoe and Trixie sound like they were very close....My puppy is like a child to us and I really feel so blessed that we have her in our lives, she's brought us alot of joy...We got her at Petsmart in VA from one of the dog rescues, she was abused :( I can't stand people that abuse animals...We've had her over 6 years already...Hugs, Rebekka

It's nice that you were able to take Sabrina in and give her a good loving home. Our Zoe was also abandoned as a puppy and she was such a terrified little thing, that I'm pretty sure she had been abused as well, but she turned out to be the sweetest, most trusting dog.

Our girls are/were our babies too. We used to call them "The Squirrel Girls" because they would stand side by side at our sliding patio door looking for squirrels in the yard. When someone opened the door for them, they would fly out the door, both going in opposite directions to corner the squirrel and force it to run up a tree. Then they would would stand at the tree and bark .....it was their favorite pastime.

They were such good buddies, we almost didn't take Zoe in because wewere afraid Trixie was so spoiled she would not stand for another dog being in the house. We lost Trixie to cancer about 5 years ago when she was 15. Zoe mourned for her for about a year..........she just moped around the house....it was so sad. We all gave her lots of attention, but she missed her buddy : ( Zoe is 14, she seems to be real healthy, but her sight and hearing are going. I don't know what I'll do when we lose her. We have lived in 3 different states in the past 3 years and she and I have been traveling partners. She drove with me from KS to Louisianna, and then from LA to OK and she has kept me company when she and I stayed behind to get our houses sold and dh left to start his new jobs.

I'm so sorry you lost Trixie to cancer...Both Zoe and Trixie sound soooooooo cute....It sad when people abuse animals, it just makes me sick...When we first got Sabrina, she was afraid of so many things, even the kitchen floor, she wouldn't walk on anything but carpet, she had such a fear...Poor baby... I had a lab mix and he lived 13 1/2 years, my oldest son and our dog grew up together...When we went looking at Petsmart, another couple wanted Sabrina and then they decided not to get her because they were leaving for vacation and didn't wanna have to put her in a kennel, we were so happy cause we really wanted her...She's so funny, she can crow like a rooster, I tell her do the rooster..LOL..Then she makes that crocodile noise, I say do Crockie..LOL..Anyways I hope you have a great night girlie, thank you for sharing your stories about your beautiful puppy dogs...Hugs, Rebekka
