to find right now,i know of many people that are looking for
work,it is so sad and i don't know how people are going to
make it,the unemployment office said that they are going
to start being open on the weekend's here because there
are so many people there looking for work and they can't
get to everybody during the weekdays,good luck on your

My oldest daughter got laid off yesterday. They told her it was of her performance
Good excuse for them, as she has all her outstanding performace reveiws and was given a hefty bonus at Christmas and a great raise last month.

Make sure your daughter has copies of all her reviews, etc. because by saying it was performance they may just be trying to stop her from collecting unemployment. lack of work. They had already closed the other plant and cut out the 3rd shift. Then Caterpillar announced they were cutting 20,000 jobs..daughter's factory makes parts for caterpillar so she got axed. They moved her beau to 2nd shift (he is a supervisor) but he was sent home last night ..yet again..after only a couple hours of being there due to lack of work as were a lot of other people. Figure it's only a matter of week or two and they will completely shut this plant down as well. They are already worried how they will pay rent etc and have cut out everything they can think of to save money. Going to use their tax rebate to pay off what bills they owe and hopefully they can survive etc.
Hang in there..gonna be a rough ride for everyone it looks like and will get worse before it gets better unfortunately.

I'm SO thankful I landed this job a few months ago. While we have laid off some people, and management has forfeited raises and we have forced vacation time, we are still employing most of our staff. It is indeed very scary out there. he hurt his knee, and saw the dr 3 fridays ago. After seeing the dr, he stopped by the office to find out that the boss was officially declaring bankruptcy....so from disability to unemployment we will go....we are hoping that he finds something in his industry(he drove triaxle before he became transportation manager)....but the industry(construction) is as ugly as the rest of the employment situation. Thankfully(hopefully)...i am secure-20 yrs of supermarket union with full benefits so that is half the battle....

15|1|I am so sorry people are going through this.....makes me scared to think that people who have been doing jobs for years and years are getting laid off or places shutting down and those people have to try to find something, even if it's out of their field....I have never been so grateful to be a nurse, there is job security in that there will always be sick or elderly that need care....our beds are full at our facility, so no layoffs or cut hours due to low census in the 7 yrs I've been there.|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|17:06:53|02/04/2009|

There seems to be a lot of ads around here for CNA's. What classes or where do I need to go in Madison WI to become certified or whatever it takes?

17|2|Try calling the local colleges to see when they will have new classes starting.....often they may have the classes on campus and other times there are facilities (nursing homes or hospitals) that 'host' the classes or offer them directly (we do that at our facility). The classes are 8 weeks and you will have to take a state certification test....if you call the colleges, they might be able to help you locate a class and assist with any grants or aid that you may qualify for quickly. I dont think the requirements vary much from state to state, but you will be subject to a back ground check and physical to be employed as a CNA, just an FYI :) I think that would be a great idea to pursue this, there is a shortage of CNA's everywhere!|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|17:45:12|02/04/2009|

for a major bank and she is losing her job Friday. Banks are laying off a ton of people so they don't need a recruiter.
