My husband has been in that area since Friday working to restore power. They are parking their trucks at Six Flags.He hopes it is back on much sooner than the middle of Feb...HE wants to come home! Sunday afternoon a guy working with his division was electrocuted working on a line that was supposed to be "dead". Anyway, hope your power is back on soon!

My sister and BIL are very self sufficient they are probably just out of power and no phone. They could live off the stuff at the farm for years. and if they really needed they could just take the big tractor into town. My sister and I grew up in western NY so she has seen this type of weather before.

you always hear noises in the dark when you work at night 11|2|Thats kind of funny about you and your sister livin in Ny my husband and I grew up in upstate Ny outside of Albany and we lived in Buffalo for a few years after we got out of the army. We have been thru many a bad snow storms before and some ice but neither of us have ever seen an ice storm like this one. Son just came out to tell me the national guard is going house to house today in my county (lyon) to make sure folks are ok. We spent the night here at his home for the first time durring this storm because on top of everything else I cought a nasty nasty cold and they are worried about me. Sounds like I will be spending another night here as its going to be 9 degrees tonight.Keep us in your prayers please and most of all pray my husband and son get back to work soon as money is running out. No paychecks from week before because of no deposit into bank not up and now no paychecks because no work for 8 days. I am realy starting to get worried. Sorry to vent. i never ever........wanna see another extension cord running thru my house....lol im sooooo sick of that generator......with all the cords stretched thru my house......i want a longggggggg hot shower so bad.........and these one pan meals..are getting old.......i heard that the prisons are taking top priority over eddyville and kuttawa residents.........they are gonna have the prisons back up....before anyone.......
im so far out in sticks.....ill probably be the last one on the list..lol
i keep telling myself and the kids....we are better off than some..at least we got wood heat......generator..and i can cook some..........we have already used over $150 in gas for that generator.......
i said we will come thru it........but we will be broke when its over...........i hope i never go thru this again............we had no phone...or cell phone signal...for the first 3 days.......i was going crazy wanting to hear from my 2 older kids and their familys...and my hubs sister who lives in eastern ky by herself..........finally..the roads were cleared enough we could get out..and drove almost all the way to hopkinsville before i got a cell signal........finally on tuesday our phone came on.........then yesterday we lost the phone again.....up until last nite..so ive got a phone for now.........but probably wont later......lol
i keep telling my kids......if this power company dont get on our road soon....im gonna go point the way for them.........

One of these days we need to meet each other heck we are almost neighbors (lol) DH left me in Hoptown last night because on top of everything else I got sick again. He got home was sitting in dark and all of the sudden power. Thank God. He called me right away and I was home in my own warm bed by 10 am today. Doctor apt. first thing Monday. where i live they say maybe 6more weeks if then...........no generator here and no heat. bil is getting antzy about some money for us being there adn the ins company says to go ahead and fix the roof and they will reimburse us. fix it with what??? lost all my food in the freezer that i couldn't give away lost all my canned goods i couldnt' move and the waterbed is frozen solid, dishwasher, washer and the ice maker in my fridge is gone, i am sure. then there is our water heater. i am sure that it is gone too. Sorry gals had to vent. it could be a lot worse and i am glad that we survived and are still here. 18|6|No power for over week and half for me too. Traveled down to TN .. stayed a week.. now back in Mayfield, some streets have power and others (like me) don't... daughters power came back on last nite..her toilet was frozen solid..even in the tank...after they turned the heat up full blast.......they slowly unthawed.....even her washer was frozen...and so far...everything is fine...........hoping you will be that lucky ...
the power company is about 2 miles up the road from me.........BUT....im not sure if they are coming my way......or gonna go on the other road..because they are at the crossroads....
