I am at my sons home for today to drop off my youngest grandson who lives with me as they are saying I will be without heat and electric for at least 20 days may be 30 one only knows. I am in western ky ( kuttawa). I have to go back to the house to take care of the pets and pipes. I was able to save most of my food (all of my frozen vegies) I have been with out power since tuesday. I would like to know how teener and the rest of my kentucy trading family are doing.. Keep us in your prayers and many of my neighbors as they have it much worse than myself. I am on water boil but have water many of them dont as they are on well water or there county cant pump water to them. I should be back here in Hopkinsville on Monday to check on grandson so I will try to get back on line then. I hope the cell phone will work at my home as that also has been down since tuesday and I need to keep in contact with family in up state Ny.My prayers are with everyone touched by this storm as this is the worse storm I have ever seen and I have lived in upstate Ny most of my life and many years in Buffalo Ny. We are under curview and the national gaurd are manning the only 2 street lights in town not to mention cutting down trees and helping folks out with our needs. Good luck all and please keep all of us touched by this storm in your prayers. 1|1|I'm in S Oh everything back on some not so lucky|LindaOh|Martinl3@roadrunner.com|12:33:56|01/31/2009|

power back yesterday around 6pm(I am in Richmond) it went out Tuesday. We lost everything in our fridge and freezer (i had just stocked up on veggies and meat :( but I know there are people still with no electric and much worse off so i am happy we have ours back and all.
I just wanna say I learned the hardway please everyone keep candles, flashlights, cell phone, radio takes batteries etc for emergencies!we only had 4 candles,we had no phone,no radio and all of Richmond pretty much had lost electric!and we had no car so it was scary with a 3 year old and 11 year old but we made it thanks to a shelter that opened and then my best friend.

Praying everyone out there is safe and you all get your electric back on.I hope we can all be here for each other and help each other if needed

since I went thru this in 03 I learned a few tricks I took big garbage bags and filled them with snow and ice and put them in my freezer in the garage,I had put everythibg from my fridge freezer in outside freezer I put all the things in the fridge in a cooler and put the ice cubes from fridge freezer to keep it cold, if it stayed out longer was putting snow and ice in gallon freezer bags and putting them in the cooler also learned to keep a battery operated radio, batteries and some kind of light also another kind of heat we had bought a stove that used fuel oil at a yard sale, it had a flat top and I was able to heat up food and boil water on it but if I ever see a coleman camp stove at a yard sale. I am getting that with the weather acting crazy we all have to be prepared. also a good ideal to keep them in one spot,Linda 8|1|I did try to call Tina..... but got the message that the voice mail or answerring system was full|Abbicca|Abbicca@bellsouth.net|01:16:48|02/01/2009|

Dh has seen her middle son at work---so I have to guess they're coping..... but not sure if they have power. And, of course, Dh hasn't worked with her son since I asked him to be SURE to find out if they're OK or if they need help/heat/hot food......
She lives where there are alot more trees around than my house....but both my sister and parents got their power back on today (and my parents are MUCH more remote than Tina....so I hope that's a good sign!) DH will keep his eyes out for Tina's son "GQ" tomorrow ....and if I hear anything...I'll try to post! (Our office has been without power since Tuesday..... and I was working out of a different one---so couldn't surf the web and check RS--sorry)

Edited to add: So much for communication.... Dh DID talk to her son.... last he knew they did NOT have power. He said they didn't need help "that he knew of"---which tends to mean he forgot to ASK that!! ARGH! He's been told to ASK that when next he sees him..... good grief! 10|2|Amy, thanks for checking on her and the family....I was going to call her yesterday and forgot to do that after I got home from my boys' wrestling tournament....I figured they must be without power since it's been so many days now since she's posted. If you know of anything they need, pls lmk and I can help by sending you some PP so you can get stuff to them right away...wouldnt do anygood for me to ship them hot food, lololol :) If you see her or talk to her pls give her a big hug from me :)|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|08:13:44|02/01/2009|
