My brother and his wife of almost 25 yrs just had a baby 3 days ago(their 2nd together, they have a 12 yr old daughter, and she has a son that my brother has raised as his own since he was about 6 months old). They tried for many years and finally just gave up. She found out that she was pregnant, thinking it was the change of life...:)...They have been so happy, pregnancy was great, no problems at all...well, when Christian was born on the 27th of this month, within an hour they were told that he may have DS....they have had some test run and should get the results soon(first they said a couple of days, now they say it may be longer)...Well, he also has had trouble with his sugar being low, not being able to keep his temp regulated and joundice....they had a baby heart specialist come and look at him...he has 2 small holes in his heart that she said should close on their own very soon...He has spent most of his time in the nursery under the blue light & warmer...He weighed a healthy 7' 2 oz at birth....Yesterday they had to start giving him blood, to help his white cells, platletts(sp?)and oxygen....I am asking that all who feels lead to please pray for this litte man...We know that he is a special gift from God and want to see him go home real soon...Please join us in prayer for God's great healing and continued blessing of perfect health for him...and also for his parents to have peace and comfort at this time....Thanks....:)

One of my daughters had heart problems at birth and is now a healthy, happy 9 year old. It's amazing all that they have learned and can now fix. From what I learned, it is actually pretty common to have murmurs and things of that nature.
Here's praying and wishing for good health for Christian (so sorry, I can't correct my subject line....

I just talked to my brother. Gonna try to take them some dinner up to the hospital tonight. They are exhausted. He said that the doctor came in and updated them. His platelett count is up to 110, which they say is a lot better. They removed the oxygen pump and just have him on the tube now. They were able to hold him a little today and she got to feed him....The doctor said that they are testing 20 cells and so far 10 have came back to show that he does have downs syndrome...My brother said that he knows that Christian is a gift from God and that God has a reason for everything...Thanks to all for your prayers and please continue...He is still in icu....I can't wait for them to be able to take him home...:)

can't say I blame her. it was very hard for me esp after the loss of my son before him but our hospital has a couple of rooms they offer free to Moms for situations just like this so I could have stayed but my two other boys were young and I didn't want to stay away to long so I just went there for feedings as did my inlaws it didn't hurt that my Mom worked there so she spent her breaks and lunch when she could and my husbands friends wife is a neonatal nurse there and was there for his birth and didn't wander to far from him while he was there
