DH and i went out to dinner and one the drive home, I felt like someone shoved a big knife through my back (of course, I don't really know what that feels like, but this would be it if I had to tell the story). I was driving and it kept getting worse and worse. Got so that I couldn't breathe well at all. It takes a lot for me to go to the ER but I was SURE my lung was collapsed and I was getting so weak from not being able to breathe. So to the ER we went. The pain was horrible. I have had pneumonia before and though it could be that. They immediately put me on a drip and shot some morphine in me to ease the pain. It did, but gave me a horrible headache. That was okay because at least I could breathe - but not normally yet. There was still some pain.

Did the blood work, xrays, catscans, ekg, everything. All signs came back perfectly, which of course, is the good news. I came home around 4am with a prescription for vicadin and fell asleep. Very tender this morning; dull ache, but breathing is good. Don't know what it is, but apparently it's not going to kill me!!!

I hate not knowing... 2|2|Robin,,,I'm glad to know you are home....|kellysp6637|frugalk76@aol.com|09:11:54|01/18/2009|

This may sound far-fetched but is it possible it could've been a muscle that went into a spasm? Muscle spasms are VERY painful & they will also take your breath away, especially if in the back or chest areas...
Just a thought but am sure glad all the testing was done & came back ok. :)

Happy New Year!

First of all I am glad you are ok!! :)

I am wondering also if it could have been a muscle spasm. I get them in my upper back and my back will hurt so bad!! Sometimes it will actually ache for days after. Also the area that seems to be the source of the pain will have a very tender spot on the muscle afterwards. If it continues maybe you could ask your regular doc about it.

Glad they didn't find anything serious :) 6|2|I can't think of anything I did to strain a muscle -- they asked me that several times. I don't know if that shows up anyway, but nobody ever said that was it|whitmarg|robin@whitmannet.com|15:15:13|01/18/2009|

I AM a bit tender today (and still kind of out of it -- I guess from the morphine although they said I didn't have much).

Just been a bad week. Started off Tuesday when DH had bad side pain. By Wednesday he couldn't stay at work and went to the Dr. They felt he may have had a bad strain of flu going around. Me? I immediately said I thought it was a kidney stone. I've never seen him in so much pain. He had pain killers and those helped, but he was vomiting and in pain. Finally on Friday he went to the ER and oh, guess what it was? Yep, a kidney stone. Luckily by then, it had already passed from the kidney so the worst part is over. And then we are back in the ER last night. They are probably looking at their records and thinking "what the hell are those old people, the Whitmans, doing over there?"!!!

7|1|Glad youre ok, Robin! That would have been a bit scary, glad you had it checked out.....rest up and take care :)|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|16:01:31|01/18/2009|
