My daughter is having grandbaby number two the first part of May. Since her babies are close together, (and she really needs nothing,) she will not be having a baby shower. So I want to put together a gift basket of things that will be nice for her to have while in the hosp. The only thing I have bought so far are a pair of sox and booties, that are real soft with Aloe in them. So I am looking for other ideas of unique things. I am also doing up freezer meals for them and need ideas for small meals that freeze real well.

For myself I only stay in the hospital the mandatory twenty four hours them I'm like LET ME OUT!!!! So she might need stuff to take a shower, toothpaste, toothbrush, etc. For meals I loved frozen meals. One friend brought me a salad bag, and two frozen pizzas. Though it wasn't homemade it was just so nice to have something to toss in and not have to fix.

There are also mom & baby matching pj sets which make adorable photos when taking pics in the hospital.
chocolate and tea basket would be great, they have special herbal tea for moms who just delivered, helps with cramping.

My mom brought me a robe and flannel matching gown, which was great and soo comfy.

** Or if she is really not needing anything, why not donate to march a dimes or similiar organazation in her or her babys name.

my daughter often gives to a local unplanned pregnancy center, so I know she would like that. Maybe I could pick up some baby items for her to donate there.

A few baby magazines
A book on breastfeeding if she chooses to do so
A Hairbrush and some lipgloss every little bit helps when people come to visit in the hospital
A nightgown that doesn't have a open back or a comfy light bathrobe (why is it all hospitals are really cold!)
Snack Foods
A cute outfit for the baby to go home in
Or if it's a girl, maybe a hat that is really pink --instead of the normal blue and pink striped they always put on the baby... or of course blue for a boy.
A little blanket in pink or blue to wrap the baby in when they leave
A new diaper bag(after all they get kinda cruddy pretty quickly - would make a great basket to put everything in)- you can even fill it with some essentials like desitin, corn starch powder (if they use it), wipes, some diapers, a couple onesies or something.... and for her, some excedrin for the headaches, some motrin for the pain, a few extra pads, etc.

Just some ideas...

You spend such a short day in the hospital these days for a regular child birth, you really won't need to go all out. I spent less than 24 hours in the hospital with my last!

Wipes ... I always forgot until I had to use those "John Wayne" wipes they give you in the hospital. Pens, markers ... baby book. 12|2|Lifesavers!
