that you can afford to buy the only birthday present he is asking for. I feel
so bad. But all my money went to pay the gas bill. Then I was short and
had to get help with the rest of the bill from you wonderful ladies. I
thank you so much.

I know there are people out there that are worst off then we are. It is just hard.
I am not use to struggling this much to keep the house hold up and running.
It just so depressing.. I try to be thankful for what we have.

I used the little bit of money I had to buy a few coupons. They are doubling here
this week. In which they never do. So I need to try to stock up on a few grocery items.

I just feel bad. He comes home and talk about the other little kids at school. What they
did for there birthday and what they got. He understand that money to tight
here right now. He even helps me look for coupons when we go to the store. Trying
to teach them how to save in the furture.

Just do not know how to explain things to him.

Thanks for listen

2|1|I am just honest. My 6 year old wasn't disappointed at |jilda|vze4gj4m@verizon.net|11:05:28|01/14/2009|

Christmas but there are many many times I say no to him. Even at Christmas I told him it wasn't going to be like last year b/c times are hard for everyone. There is just less money and things are more expensive. He's 8 he'll understand. Keep it simple but realistic. My son knows why we use coupons. He knows that when I say no to a toy it's b/c he doesn't need it and it's not worth the money. When he asks for fast food I'll say we have food at home that we already bought and there's no point spending more money when we don't need to.

On his birthday..take him somewhere where it's free. Have you signed him up for anything where he can get free stuff on his birthday like dairy queen? bake him a cool cake and place a picture of his fave superhero on it if you aren't good at icing..(I am the WORST at that) OR take a action figure and stick it on the cake and decorate around the figure to make it cool.

Make him his favorite dinner. Let him stay up late or watch his favorite movie or tv show.

My dd just turned 9 and I know how you feel. It is hard not being able to get something for your kids.

One of the things I thought of is that mine really dearly loves those quarter machines (like at the grocery stores) and most of the time I have to say no because we just don't have extra money at all. So, for her birthday I gave her a huge pile of quarters ($4 worth) so that she can just blow them as she wants to. Those little plastic toys and gum are overpriced of course, but it is just the fun of being able to get them. She feels "wealthy" for awhile. LOL.

She got a few other things too, but she really liked that. HTH. Vanessa 4|2|I know..haley wanted a cellphone for christmas|shellysmsmo|jpksms@sbcglobal.net|11:30:28|01/14/2009|

But I think it's too much right now for a 12 year old. I know that almost all of the other 6 graders have them... but I'm hoping
to hold off and wait till next year. she wanted one last year for her birthday/christmas, then this birthday and christmas..she'll be
13 in october..so maybe this year or christmas! I know it's hard.

Will try to answer everyones questions..

(takes me alittle bit. Still having problems where they did my carpal tunnel surgery)

Keegan likes...

Bakugan
Pokeman
Ds Games..Pokeman Ranger ( this is the one thing he asked for his birthday)

Air hog...I think that is what it is called. I litle plane that they can play with
in the house. It is remote controlled.

Ipod shuffle..wanted one for christmas, but could not afford one. He loves music.
Sings to the radio all the time. He wanted one to listen too on the bus. They are
on the bus for about 45 min in the morning and then again at nite. He gets bored.

Foods..

We really don't have any rest. that do free birthday dinners. I have signed up for
burger king in the pass. But have not received anything in the passed few yrs from
them. He likes applebees too. But they are to costly. If they did do a birthday dinner
there it was cost to much for the 3 of us to go.

His favorite place is Mcd. And I don't think they do a birthday club.

Cakes..

I will bake him a cake. With the help of betty crocker lol. Cakes are to costly to
buy already make.

i have had to tell PJ (he's 5) that we just don't have the money for this or that and he seems to understand. but for a birthday gift? ouch!

what is it that he wants? is there any way to perhaps get a less expensive same "type" of item.

like at christmas, pj wanted a walking and talking mcqueen, it was $40! we couldn't afford it but i found another car from the cars movie (DJ, he talks and lights up and plays music and stuff) at big lots for only $10 and pj LUVS it! could you possibly do something like that?

big hugs to you! i know it's GOT to be hard on you right now.

Can you start form hunting and posting forms to earn a little extra cash? Ebay some stuff? Hold a yard sale? Did you join every survey place, Winzy, Swagbucks, Blingo, Mypoints, etc. that you can? What about writing content online like I do? My content writing in 2007 earned me enough money for a new grill and also 100 bucks to replace my niece's class ring that her gfn father kept and wouldn't give to her when he kicked her out. Think outside the box and maybe you'll find a way to help raise the money.

They can get brand new and not as much or I can scrounge ebay, and the internet, boards, etc and get it used sometimes without a case or whatever and get them much more that way for birthday and holidays. And they keep all their Ds games in the case that holds their ds so they don't require the boxes the games came in. Makes games much cheaper that way.

I have an ipod knockoff - brand new - that I got from the newport cig promo a while back....and I will send it to you to give to your son. It doesn't look like a shuffle; I think it looks like the nano from a couple of years back.

Anyway, it's 1 GB, brand new in the box with instructions. I'll email you after work to see if you'd like it....I can send you a picture too.
