I couldn't sleep all night just thinking about what this was going to cost... would be just be a crown or a root canal and crown. The entire back of the tooth broke off. I was afraid all night because there was no pain. The root was exposed, there was nothing but filling in the back so I was sure it was a gonner. Got an emergency dental appointment this morning. Phew, doesn't need a root canal. Good thing. The crown alone will be $1260. WTH am I going to get the 50% share that I need to pay? Well, between now and 3 weeks from now, I'll be posting a LOT of boxes of coupons, envies of coupons, boxes of goodies. I hope everyone is ready to start bidding!!!

oh groan... 1|1|sorry this happened, but glad you are nit in a lot of pain. DOnna|dlpavitt|dlpavitt@att.net|18:48:44|01/10/2009|

already had the root canal while i was preggy with kevin then i lost more of the tooth now it is just a small portion of the tooth left at the gumline
i have a temporary filling put in that has lasted for years now i hope it stays
i would ask for temp first and see how long you can get away with that
the crown costs too much and you can lose them off and swallow them then where would you be ????

i have had 5 relatives swallow theirs and i refuse to get a crown
i will keep my temp filling you can't see is in the back of my mouth

i pray that things will work out for you

has very crowded teeth and this is one that will have to be pulled anyway if/when we do braces for her (she is epileptic so between that & the cost has stopped us till this point. (had to pay for the root canal out of our own pocket as well) Dont' want her mouth/tongue all cut up when she seizes). Anyhoo..couldn't find a dentist/specialist to pull it at all..ended up with a root canal..and then they wanted it to have the crown etc. I said "no way"..she will have that temporary filling in there till it comes time to pull it. I am NOT wasting any more of my money on a tooth that will have to come out in the long run anyway...that's just crazy!

Edited to say that the crown was welll over $1000 for it alone..not counting the root canal...and this was a couple yrs ago too. Yikes!!!

Never even thought about it. Now of course, I can't think of anything else!!! LOL

Yeah, I got one 2 years ago and it was $750 so I was thinking, oh, maybe $850-900. When she said "ok that will come to $1260" I couldn't even speak. I was dumbfounded. 6|1|650 is the most I have ever been charged for a crown.....|Quietwaters|Quietwaters39@hotmail.com|20:36:09|01/10/2009|

I have one gold one way in the back, I am thinking that was around 500, and the two porcelain were more. Maybe you should check around on cost.

... this apparently is in the ballpark. The only person who I have talked to that has paid less than $1000 in the past year went to a dental school and got it done there. But had problems with it and had to go to another dentist.

Living in the greater Boston area never helps financially for medical care. However, we DO have the best at our disposal!!!

I paid $3200 for my son's braces and $4000 for my own (yes, a mere 5 years ago I made the plunge!).

My friend just got her daughter's for $3000. All 3 examples are 36 months.

Just for chuckles I cxalle dthe Gentle Dentals and other places like that for a quote on the cap -- all coming in at $999-1500. Eeek... 11|1|both my front crowns fell out after $3000 loan for my dentist's lifestyle|glennie58|glenn_scott@alumni.ksg.harvard.edu|10:54:54|01/11/2009|
