Ron & kids are going to the b-ball game at the HS tonight and my 16 yr. old son went to a movie w/his gf, so I'm home alone!!! YAYYYYYY. I'm gonna scrapbook some, after a quick trip to Walmart for some scrapbook supplies, and then watch wife swap, etc.

My son's gf is here & I guess she won't eat other people's homemade cooking (can't believe it!) so I decided to just make a pizza then. :-p She's a very nice girl so I don't know yet what's up w/that. The last time she was here (Tues.), I made baked pork chops, mixed veggies & tater tots. All she ate was the tater tots. LOL My son just LOVES pork chops but said he wasn't hungry, no doubt so she wouldn't feel bad, but at least he ate some of the mixed veggies along w/tater tots. Sheesh! I pulled a fast one on her tho. I asked her if she liked rommegrot, to which she said she just loved it. I said I make it alot in winter so one of these times, I'm going to make it & we'll see if she eats that since it is HOMEMADE. LOL

Happy New Year!

Yummy!!
The "old-fashioned" way to make it was w/heavy cream (usually skimmed from fresh cow's milk), real butter, flour & sugar over the stove which takes a long time. I make it in the microwave using half & half & 2% milk instead of the heavy cream, & margarine instead of butter, so it's not as rich & hard on the fat & cholesterol levels. LOL Eating it hot/warm really hits the spot on a cold winter night. Warms the tummy. ;)

I brined a turkey for the first time ever for a big dinner Wednesday, and was sooo happy with how it came out. We had turkey soup for dinner last night (I'll definitely be using that recipe again!) but tonight just going to be a rehash of the stuff we had Wednesday. I love it when I can get 3-4 days of food out of one afternoon of cooking.
