I happened to have a navy blue blanket that I got at kroger's for $5 from the bin by the door where I found the beanies. It had gray "sculpted" edges too.

he said he wanted a snuggli after seeing the commercial 10,000 times in one day so I told him I would make him one. He let me measure it against him (quite a feat lol) to see if he wanted it longer or wider (5 year olds need a part in these clothing/dressing decisions).

I cut a long hole across on the fold for his (large 5 year old) head, and the large belly needed to have a little drift in the front, then I turned it inside out and sewed around the hole so that it would look neat, I gave it about a 1/4 inch 'hem'. I wish I knew these terms, sorry I don't usually sew.

I found one of his sports shirts and laid it against the folded blanket and cut along the underside of the arm plus an inch for the seam, I tacked it so it would not unravel, and voila! I sewed along the sleeve and then along the open edges to the bottom to sew them together. The first time I made the stitches loose and long and this unraveled after one day so I had to go over it, tack the seams tightly (the sewing looked kinda bunched but when I put it right side out it was ok) I made sure to sew the sculpted threads down too so they wouldn't unravel.

This took about an hour and cost nothing except thread and he wears it around the house like Clint Eastwood as the man with no name, sometimes I want to hum that music when I look at him but his feelings are too sensitive rofl. 1|1|That is wonderful, great job!|HONEY11|HONEY1@AMERITECH.NET|15:17:09|01/03/2009|
