I just LOVE ice cubes from the ice maker..always have..so it reeaally likes to aggrevate me..the fridge that is. I swear it taunts me "na-na-na-na-na-na!" and would stick out it's tongue at me if it could!! LOL!!
I buy the bagged ice but sadly, it's just not the same :( Water..we have soft water so we buy the huge jugs and have a water cooler so cold right out of that though. I bought a water bottle from the gym I go to that holds 64oz of water and I drink all of that before I allow myself anything else and when I do allow myself something else its usually unsweet tea

Its hard at first but now i'm use to it and sometimes I'll have a soda and I hate diet soda so when I have soda its the real thing. 7|2|I have the same problem--hate reg water...try a little lemon juice--thats what I have to do|carmenanderson|cloudcars@verizon.net|09:12:18|01/01/2009|

as we all know, adding flavors and stuff to your water is NOT good for you. it's not the same as drinking plain water. also, people "think" 8oz is a big ole glass of water when in fact it's usually about 1/2 of that gals! so, what i did years ago (and i still do it now) is i bought a plastic cup that i REALLY liked, (yes, it was expensive) and i measured how many 8oz cups of water fit into the cup. the total was 3, SO............ everyday i drink 3 of my favorite cups filled with water. i don't "make" myself have to have water at any given time, i simply go get the cup when i'm ready to drink it and fill it up.

if you don't "like" water i would also suggest trying a bunch of different types of water to find out which one(s) you prefer. for instance, try an 8oz cup of tap water vs an 8oz cup of aquafina spring water and choose the one you prefer. then try an 8oz cup of your prefered and an 8oz cup of dasani, then choose the one you prefer, and so on. eventually you'll find one you'd rather have than not and before you know it, your body will "crave" the water as opposed to other beverages.

also remember, ICE can dramatically change the taste of water so take that into consideration when drinking ice water.

hths and good luck!

9|2|I have to disagree with you a bit here...hydration is hydration.....water is recommended because there are no added components such as caffeine, sugars, etc....but it's better to add a sugar-free, caffeine-free flavoring than to not drink the water at all, or to drink diet soda or other fluids that have caffeine, sodium, or sugars in them. :) Drinking the fluids for weight loss has two major benefits: First the fluids help flush the body and keep it hydrated for overall good health. Second, it helps 'fill you up' so hunger is not such an issue. So, if drinking Crystal Light is the only way someone can tolerate drinking that much water every day, it's serving it's purpose :)|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|09:41:43|01/01/2009|

ETA: The key is getting the fluids....there are alot of options besides drinking plain water all the time....green tea (hot or iced) is great--no caffeine, and antioxident properties as well. Add a twist of fresh lemon or orange for a little flavor boost with no added calories or other 'toxins' like sugar, sodium, caffeine. :) Also, use flavored ice cubes...fill a tray with water and add a small slice of citrus fruit or fresh sliced berries to the water, freeze, then use in your plain water.

Just a couple examples on how to make water less boring :)

food colorings are one of the WORST things we can add to our bodies, we all know this. and chrystal light is not calorie free nor preservative free either. there is all kinds of JUNK in chrystal light. now i know that aquafina offers calorie free flavored bottled water. what's in them exactly i don't know. but i do know that they taste great and are CLEAR, no food colorings at all. cleansing the body does not entail adding food colorings or suagars or preservatives of any sort. plain water is always best. but teas (naatural ones) are great too for cleansing and hydrating as well.

Like someone else said not all waters are equal. Fruit 2o has to be my favorite of all time flavored water and it's relatively low in sweetners, etc. Propel another 'water' is much higher in comparison. So pay attention closely not just to taste but the label as well.

And don't have fridge envy. It's not paid for yet LOL. When we moved into this house we moved in with a new dryer from our townhouse we had just purchased. In the six months we've lived here we had to replace the washer and the fridge.

... yes, while plain water is the best, there is no harm in other liquids that are sodium, caffeine and sugar free. Liquid is liquid. The real rule of thumb now is one ounce of liquid for every pound of weight (so if I hadn't lost weight, I would surely have drowned on a day-to-day basis!!!). The liquid, in order to solve the hydration and flushing issues, needs to be sugar free, caffeine free and sodium free as well as no to low calorie. Crystal Light is at the top of the list because it fits that criteria. You also get liquid from foods -- fruit has a lot of liquid. Milk also is a liquid, so when drinking milk, go for the 1% or skim to get your maximum benefits. Decaffed tea and coffee are acceptable, but limited 2-3 per day.

The third thing that liquids do is keep the stomach full. If you fill up with liquids, you have less room for food. It's a little tummy/brain trick that really works.

Two of the cheapest and easiest ways to change the flavor of water is to squeeze either a lemon or lime into the water. It's just a tiny bit of flavor that goes a long way.

Learning to like water is difficult, I know. Like Jackie, I have special "water glasses" - mine are pretty wine glasses that I love and know how many I need in the course of a day to reach my goal. I love the look of melting ice in my drinks so that's my motivation. We all have something that will make it work.

Good luck Deedra -- I know you can do it!!! 26|2|I agree with all you said....you and I have said the same thing basically, so of course I'd agree, lol :)|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|12:18:10|01/01/2009|

If they can take water with the minimal amt of additives like crystal light instead of soda etc, then that is better than not taking it. No Health Benefit From Drinking 8 Glasses of Water a Day: Study

A new study pours cold water on the popular belief that drinking eight glasses of water a day provides a range of health benefits ranging from improving skin tone to keeping organs healthy and preventing weight gain.

Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia reviewed published clinical studies and found no evidence that average, healthy people need to drink that much water, United Press International reported.

The review authors did find evidence that increased water intake improves kidney function, but there was no indication of any sort of clinical benefit.

Studies on water and weight control were inconclusive and no studies have shown a link between increased water intake and clinical benefit to skin tone, UPI reported.

The findings appear in the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology.

they did a segment discussing the most recent studies indicating that the old rule of thumb of 8 glasses of water a day is not necessary after all.

They said to drink water if you want to, but it certainly isn't necessary to try to force yourself to drink 64 oz a day.

And they did say that all liquids (including those found in foods) "count" in keeping your body hydrated. 40|1|I drink 4 cups herbal or green tea every day and 4 cups water.....|Quietwaters|Quietwaters39@hotmail.com|13:39:25|01/02/2009|

I partially freeze my water bottles, that way they are full of crushed ice, and seems with me the colder the water the more I can drink.

I stopped consuming large amounts of diet pop a couple of years ago, and try now not to even have it in the house. It is terrible how addicting pop of any kind can be.

Its hard for me to fathom someone not liking water. I drink lots of water every day. We have very good tasting tap water, so I drink tap water at home. At work I drink bottled water, its just easier and if I happen to knock it over, it has a lid and doesn't spill. I do not like the little powdered mixes. They are way too sweet tasting. I drink a small cup of coffee every morning and will have a glass of tea or a soda with my lunch. I stopped drinking tea and soda at night years ago as the caffiene kept me awake. I only drink water in the evenings. Unless of course I decide to have a glass of wine. 42|1|Water is my main drink, I do have a rootbeer or ice tea(unsweetened) now and then and some juice, but I mainly drink water~*~|RebekkaVA|queen_vulture@msn.com|16:40:19|01/02/2009|
