After my son and I spent the day yesterday digging tunnels to be able to feed the cows and horses and my hubby plowing and plowing the driveway so we could move bales around and get to the road (more than 1/2 mile away), we got dumped on AGAIN last night. Prior to this storm, we had already broken all previously set snowfall records for December and now this. Global warming? HA! Global Cooling!

This is unbelievable. And it's stilllllllll snowing....

1|1|I dont know how you guys do it, Donna.....I gripe when we get more than 3 inches at a time! I'm not of the same stock as you are for sure. Weird weather here....it's in the 50's and raining like crazy...the snow we did have (maybe 2 ft?) is all melting away...making a sloppy mess, but I wont complain knowing what you have to deal with!|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|08:54:31|12/27/2008|

It's been so thick w/fog since yesterday & altho it was supposed to lift sometime last night, it's still just as foggy this morning. Temps at 40° yesterday & today & rainy so it looks pretty dirty & funky out w/not much snow left. The temps are supposed to begin dropping tho so that's not going to be good as it'll turn into freezing rain & is then supposed to become all snow w/accumulations of 3-5". I'll be grateful for the new snow to cover up this current mess but that freezing rain biz isn't going to be so nice. :(

Have A Very Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year!

My son had to snowshoe two miles to the neighbor's house to feed their animals. He has been critter-sitting and taking the 4-wheeler twice a day to feed, but it's too deep for that now. He is supposed to call me when he gets up there, but he hasn't yet so I'm way stressed. It looks like he will just have to stay there by himself once he does make it.

My hubby will probably not be able to make it home tonight which means that I get to feed and water 4 cows, 9 calves and two horses by myself in what is now getting close to 5 feet of snow...well definitely well over 4 feet. I don't even want to measure anymore. I just know that the pasture fences are completely buried....not like the cows want to go anywhere anyway though.

I haven't been away from home since December 17th. I like being home but this is ridiculous. I know there are people far worse off than me though but I do appreciate this board so I can whine a little now and then! I am thankful we have plenty of food and so far, we have maintained power.

Hubby couldn't make it home all the way and ended up snowshoeing. No one can make it in or out. Then he was working on trying to fix the chains on our truck that has a plow on it (the truck is currently very stuck in a snowbank) and when he looked up, there was a cow standing next to him. She simply stepped out onto the driveway because all the pasture fences are completely buried. We are hoping she just sticks around because there is nothing we can do about her tonight in the dark in all this snow. We can't even get a gate open to send her back into the pasture. We hope she decides to just go back.....or hopefully, none of the others will want to join her.

The weather forecast is predicting snow every day this coming week with winter storm warnings on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. There is no end....and it's only December. (sigh)
