Hi all, hoping I can get lots of my good hearted refund "friends" to help me throw a HUGE card shower. Below is a portion of one of my trading post:
We had a benefit dinner last night in our little town for a healthy (everyone thought) 18 year old young man. The week before thanksgiving he had a little bladder infection ... got antibiotics ... seemed okay, got a severe sore throat a day or two later ... more antibiotics - doc said "flu bug". Thanksgiving day he had a HORRIBLE back ache up into his neck and his stomach started hurting and just over a period of a couple of hours his belly button "distended". The family wasn't too awfully worried, thought it was a hernia and planned to go to the doctor friday to get a hernia fixed. Friday, the day after thanksgiving, they went to the doctor and was told he (Coty) had lymphoma! The initial prognosis was "2 - 4" weeks. The family's breath was taken away. He went into Liberty Hospital (in Missouri) and started a very aggressive round of chemo - two days later his kidneys shut down from the effects of chemo. They stopped chemo and started dialysis. I believe it was on the 4th day after that they restarted chemo and his body handled it as well as could be expected. During all the tests they found out the cancer hadn't spread to his brain or to his spinal cord - YEA! They did surgery and put a shunt (don't know if i spelled that right or not) into his brain so they could administer chemo directly to the brain. He got out of the hospital yesterday was a week ago (Saturday the 13th). Tomorrow (Monday, 12/22) he goes back in for 4 - 8 days to start his 2nd round of chemo. I don't know the prognosis as of today but it does appear the tumors are responding to the chemo. so ... the ds games* are for coty to have a little fun with!

Spaghetti Supper for Coty Hylton
Many people in Excelsior Springs know Coty Hylton, and Dec. 20, they can help to support him as he struggles with lymphoma.
Coty, the son of Clint Hylton and Anissa and Mike Hauck, graduated in May from Excelsior Springs High School. The 18-year-old is employed at John's Super. His lymphoma diagnosis came the day after Thanksgiving, and he's undergoing aggressive chemotherapy and dialysis. His family has been by his side through the ordeal, and his father, acting Chamber president, has been keeping the community updated.
Barb Baldridge and Sandy Barber are planning a spaghetti supper to benefit Coty and his family from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at First United Methodist Church on U.S. 69.
If you would like to help "shower" Coty with happy thoughts, prayers, get will wishes, etc., please send a card to my address with COTY on the outside of the envie. I will collect all and take to the hospital.
