insurance companies are going to reimburse doctors more for e-prescribing than actual prescriptions..will get more money for doing that and they can track them better. Looks like this will take place after the 1st of the year sometime. Sooo..enjoy the Rx gift certificate coupons while we can cuz it's gonna end it looks like. *sigh* They just keep hitting us deeper and deeper in the pocket book. :( 1|1|Hope this doesn't sound dumb, but?|cove|tangle3blue@charter.net|16:48:49|12/21/2008|

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by e-prescribing?
How is this going to work?
My husband was laid off, and his insurance plan goes through May. After that, who knows?
Quite frankly, I will be glad to be rid of that insurance plan. My doctor gave me a coupon once to help me out and they sent it back to me saying they don't accept coupons.
And I am sick of having to mail my Rx's in all the time. I am checking into getting my Rx's cheaper at the stores that carry mine with the "no insurance" deals.
We'll see.
Thanks

Basically from what I can gather is that the prescription would go directly to the pharmacy. One added benefit would be that in the case of Medicare, it would show other drugs that could work (and list their prices) so if a doc wanted to rx you X and they went into their puter and it showed Y or Z that were far cheaper, he might rx you one of those instead (thus saving money). Plus, for Medicare, there'd be a way to see all of the prescriptions you have currently... and be able to catch drug interactions.

So basically, you wouldn't see that slip of paper b/c docs (esp. for Medicare patients) would e-prescribe and that means you may not get to use the pharmacy coupons. I do have faith, though, that the pharmacies would come up with a way to keep offering them...

3|1|My doctors have been E prescribing, for almost a year now. Never had a problem with CVS taking RX coupons. It still shows, as a new prescription. ALthough, you may have to point it out, to them. But, it still works. Donna|dlpavitt|dlpavitt@att.net|17:08:42|12/21/2008|

I have to mail all my Rx's to Medco, and they don't accept coupons. Even if the Rx was e-prescribed they still wouldn't take the Rx, which is why I will be glad to be rid of them! They don't deal with Rx's through stores. We can get the first round of Rx's (first and 2 refills) at the store, but after that we either go to Medco, or pay the amount with no insurance discount.
Why can't we just come up with one system? I guess that's naive, huh? You know what they always say.
"follow the money"
Thanks for the details!
