We have around 30" and are expecting up to 10 more by Monday. Currently though, it is too cold to snow - about -10 or so.......a little hard to tell accurately when it is below zero. Plus the wind is starting to pick up.

I used to think that too but there was just an article in one of the local papers the other day saying that it can snow no matter how cold it is so it's never too cold to snow. LOL

to a Winter Storm Warning from today til tomorrow afternoon. We could see as much as another 7" by the time it's done. LOL I think I'm going to go out & shovel a bunch up to my house for "insulation" cuz there's also supposed to be an arctic blast moving in so not only snow but the wind is to kick up so blowing/drifting, below 0 temps & dangerous windchills. :( Now I would much rather have just the snow! :-p
It's not uncommon to have this type of weather in Jan. & Feb. but it's been a few yrs. since we've had it so early in the season. Guess we've been spoiled. LOL

8|1|Mara - it can be too cold to snow....|iteachca|iteachca@aol.com|10:00:00|12/20/2008|

We live in a very dry area. When the temperature plummets, there is even less water vapor in the air. Hence, the moisture capacity is so reduced (due to the cold temperature) that it cannot snow. Therefore, (though the phrase seems a roundabout way of saying all of that) it is "too cold to snow."
