Does anyone know how long you can keep shrimp in your freezer if you buy it fresh?

for more than 6 months with no problems. Had some last nite that was from my grocery shop in March. I also have fresh crab meat and crab legs frozen in my deep freezer. HTH

fill zippy bags (heavy duty ones) with a layer of shrimp and then add water to cover. freeze on it's side on a baking sheet for 24 hours then you can put them however you like. the water helps keep the shrimp from drying out. (stores normally flash freeze shrimp that's how they stay fresh) my husband was a shrimper for 20 years and that's how we freeze our fresh shrimp. hth :)
edited to add: we have kept shrimp frozen this way for over a year with no problems. :)

No wonder my shrimp always got freezer burned and I ended up throwing them out. Seems like a commonsense idea, but it never occured to me {smacking my forehead}. Thanks for the tip!
