I am going to a party this weekend and we are supposed to bring a white elephant gift. I have never been to one of these parties so have no clue what to bring. Any ideas on what you have given/recieved, or seen given as a white elephant gift would be appreciated :) 1|1|are the recipiants drinkers? if so........|pussecat|pu55ecat@aol.com|15:16:36|12/11/2008|

2|1|I think a White Elephant gift is something you have already and dont want anymore....like re-gifting. I havent heard that term in many years, so I could be totally wrong about that, lol.|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|15:51:32|12/11/2008|

You are suppose to give something that you dont want anymore or that you dont like or use.

I went to a christmas party one year and it was white elephant so I took 2 dvd's that we hadnt watched in a very long time. In return I got a really nice broach I thought that was a fair trade :)

Usually with white elephant the packages are wrapped and placed on a table you draw numbers and the person that gets number 1 picks a gift 1st and so forth and so on and after you get your gift if there is someone that wants your gift they can take it from you at anytime and so forth and so on. I thought it was pretty fun to see how some people fight over gifts some of the gifts at the party that i went to were pretty cheesy.

Good luck with picking a gift

ty 14|1|you might want to check with the host(ess) of the party and see what the White Elephant "rules" are ... |redspecs|kandersmithtc08@yahoo.com|04:11:45|12/13/2008|

DH's bosses used to have their Christmas party and did the WE thing ...they had bought all the presents. Everyone drew numbers, the first person got to choose a gift from the pile. The person with the next number got to either choose a "new" gift, or take the gift that the previous person opened, and so on. Any person could take a wrapped present or a gift that someone had already claimed. The gifts were reasonably inexpensive, but they were nice gifts also.

I'd hate for someone to show up with an gag gift when it was supposed to be nice gifts.
