I've so far gotten 2 pop-ups from what I believe is AVG about some kind of spyware. It just happend for the 2nd time a little bit ago but happened the 1st time about a week or so ago. It also asks me if I want to download the new Antivirus 2009? It appears to the the AVG icon (little red, yellow, blue & green colors in a box-shaped square).
Anyone know if this is legit? Thanks! :)

ETA: Or, you could open the program and do the update from there...I havent gotten any popups from AVG lately though.

When it came up, it said something about some kind of spyware in My Documents. I think I may have found the Document file that was the culprit & have deleted it. Also cleaned out my cache, rebooted, updated & ran both AVG & Adaware so I hope to have gotten rid of whatever was causing it. If not, I have other methods to get rid of it. LOL
Found nothing on the AVG site about any new AVG 9 so I'm sure that popup was balogna. :-p

Finally, I got rid of this bugger but the only fix for it is called malwarebytes. I'd called my techie & he said malwarebytes is the only fix he knows of to get rid of it.
Go to http://www.majorgeeks.com to download & run it. It is shareware but free if you don't have to use it too often.
My AVG, Adaware & Spybot Search & Destroy besides Pccillin's free Housecall scan all couldn't even get rid of it. It's low risk but can still cause problems if it doesn't get removed as it infects your computer's Registry. I made a print-out of the results & it showed 2 listings for Adware.Coupons so it would be wise to CAREFULLY watch what you're clicking on in order to get those online coupons. :(
