.....we're having my dh's siblings & their spouses + some of his nieces and their spouses/children....so about 27 people in all, including my nephew & his family and Rons/my kids.

I am making the: 23 lb. turkey, 10 lb. spiral glazed ham, stuffing, 2 doz. deviled eggs, homemade cranberry sauce, corn, mashed potatoes and am also providing 4) of the 6) total pies. Oh, I almost forgot---I'm also providing the appetizers (his family expects them): vegi tray w/dip, cheese ball & crackers, assorted cheeses to go with and some bowls of nuts. We're also providing: Beer, soda & bottled water, otherwise, it's BYOB...and this crowd WILL bring plenty....lol! They are a fun group.

I am going to start cooking tomorrow, since my nephew will arrive tonight and he & his wife will be here @ my house all day tomorrow...catching up. After we head out for breakfast, I'll be in the kitchen all day---hubby said we can order pizza for dinner tomorrow night 'cause I'm going to be beat!!!

They are p/u my tables & chairs tonight after work. I'm setting up in the (heated) garage, and made centerpieces w/candles & hurricane holders, dried berries, etc. I'm going to drape a Fall silk garland down the center of ea. table then put out the centerpieces and some more candles on ea. table, then sprinkle confetti. It should look nice!

But, I admit, I'm getting tired just THINKING of all I have to do the next two days. Oh, and I've been cleaning house like crazy for the past couple days!

...or two, in most cases. I requested these potluck items: rolls, green bean casserole (hubby's fav), sweet potatoe casserole, a layered pea salad, 2 pies, and rice krispie treats for the kids. But still, as you can see, most of the work falls on the host. I've probably spent close at least $300 on food, etc. for this!!

...remember, you are just getting "better" like fine wine!!

Believe me, today I had a serious case of not so much laziness as my back is killing me. The sciatic nerve is pinched and it's causing me a lot of achiness and pain all day/night long for 2 days now. I don't have the time nor the $ to run to the dr., so it's going to have to wait. I tried laying down late this afternoon w/a heating pad and some Motrin, it did not help whatsoever. When hubby gets home tonight I'm going to ask if he has any pain pills left; I probably need one to just get through tomorrow!!

Seriously, I'm having Thanksgiving at my house w/my son & my mom so I'm taking care of everything except the pumpkin & apple pies & lefse. ;)
I think my mom is long overdue to be able to relax & enjoy Thanksgiving & not have to worry about making everything or having to deal w/the mess afterwards. ;)

Every year hubby's family and extended family (some aunts, uncles, cousins etc) come and we have a house full. This year, due to some of theirs health problems, we are still going to have our big dinner (daughter and her beau are coming from out of state as well) and then later in the day, hubby will make rounds and deliver food to those who couldn't make it due to the health issues. Here is the list below:

turkey and dressing
mashed potatoes
sweet potatoes
corn casserole
cranberry sauce
black olives
broccoli, rice and cheese casserole
macaroni & cheese (homemade)
green bean casserole
deviled eggs
hot rolls & Hawaiian bread rolls
gravy
dirt pudding
Pies...sugar cream, homemade pumpkin, dutch apple, lemon pie..might be a couple others too..haven't decided yet on that
cheesecake
stuffed mushrooms (hubby makes these every year and they are gone in a heartbeat! YUUMMM!)

think that is all but never know. Tomorrow is my "ook all ahead I can" day of course. :)

Turkey and stuffing and DH and I will each try to convince the other that it should be made "my way". He likes his very moist made inside the bird and I prefer a bit of a drier stuffing, but I am feeling like he will probably "win" this time, hee-hee! I am nice to him sometimes...j/k

Mashed potatoes and gravy
Rolls
Cranberry sauce
Yams with marshmallows for Dh and Madison
olives, carrots and celery with ranch dip
1-2 other veggies which I will let the oldest DD pick because she will not eat turkey.

Pumpkin pie
Chocolate pie

And then we will all have to walk, walk and walk some more. No way will I be able to stick to my 1500 calories that day! So I will counteract it with a lot of exercise tomorrow. Cooking burns a few calories, right?

Normally I would also start making a few types of holiday cookies. This year I will try to fill up on veggies first and keep the focus away from the sweets. Only got the pies because they wound up being free and I don't have any resistance to free!

this was a special request by my son whose birthday is tomorrow (my baby will be 30.....I feel ancient...lol)
Both of my boys love my strawberry cake, but dh can't eat it because he's allergic to strawberries.

We are going to my dil's sister's house. Dil's parents will be there as will her sister's in-laws.....just combining both families to make it easier on everyone.

I haven't made/hosted Thanksgiving in 5 or 6 years....I kind of miss it. I enjoy cooking for a big group and there's always helpers at clean up time. I have gotten to the point that if it's just dh and I for Thanksgiving...we go to a restaurant. I like to cook...but hate being by myself in the kitchen while he sleeps all day : )
