One of the girls that I work with has 3 little girls, 3,5 and 7. She doesn't work many hours, she can't because of daycare and no family around the area to help. She has a long, sad story and the bottom line is she doesn't help herself really, but that is not for me to judge. There isn't going to be much for Christmas and that bothers me immensley. I crocheted a hat and scarf set for each of them, also purchased on clearance at Wal-Mart 3 different colored small purses ($3 each!) and put inside of them a bracelet, headbands and hair ties that I also got clearanced for $2, so total I have spent is $11, I had the yarn and they really came out pretty. Anyone have any ideas for the girls? Been so long since I bought anything for young girls and quite honestly, I don't have much money to spare but it is breaking my heart, just looking for some inexpensive ideas if anyone has any.
Thanks!

Several years ago at work when I worked with all adults, LOL, we adopted a family with 2 sets of twins, they had 7 small kids altogether. That year I had some money to spend and for Christmas I told my Dad and my Mom that they were both getting a "Big Wheels" for Christmas and I was using the $ for their gifts for 1 set of the twins, they were thrilled!! We all worked together and on Christmas Eve that year, 6 cars drove out to that house and we piled packages and food into that house at 11 PM when all the kids were asleep. We had Christmas dinner and breakfast all taken care of, stockings filled and mountains of presents plus the 2 Big Wheels. A week before, an old boss of mine handed me 1 of those hand held games (I forget which 1 but they were new out) and told me to give it to the 12 year old boy. LOL, he was not EVER a generous or sharing person but he amazed me, we had not even asked him. It was such an amazing feeling for all of us and whenever I run into any of them, someone always brings that year up, we were all such a team for a very long time.

My girls absolutely adore craft stuff and so it might be easy to gather odd pieces of material, ribbon, rick rack, etc., and then maybe add a few things like google eyes, pipe cleaners, glue and put it in a box. Instant hit! Craft boxes are so much fun and around here they provide hours of entertainment plus they might be something that you already have and can share.

I think you are wonderful for helping them! vanessa 13|2|a bump for cathie :)|Beaglesfly|lmllr77@aol.com|13:27:42|11/26/2008|

the other night and are making art packs for the girls..I'm sewing totes with a pocket on the front with zipper to store scissors, glue ets in. They will look really nice when we get it all together and will be great gifts for them. Thank-you Cathie for letting me share in the giving, I am excited to do this! I started sewing up first tote today and it is halfway finished...Will send pic when completed, it is coming out cute!!

** I'm using a thick, soft flannel to make the totes with, print is of penquins on ski's flying down snow covered slopes, with christmas trees and snowman in the backgound. Very cheerful colorful print. And am making all totes in the same print so there will be no fighting over the bags..lol!!

Tote bags are 14 1/2 tall X 11 wide.
Generous size zippered pocket sewn on the front it is 7 tall X 8 wide.
Totes have a pleated bottom so they can be stuffed full.
And yep, even added my biz labels to them to make them look professional and a personal touch.

So funny but I hate to iron, I never iron clothes...but if it's something to do with crafts then I don't mind pulling the iron out. I think I used the irom more these past 2 wks than I have in a year..lol! I have always had a love for crafting and homing my skill, I drive everyone here nuts as sometimes I lay awake at night thinking up a new unique project that no one else has made...and will get up and start cutting material and sewing..lol!! I cannot draw with a hoot, but give me a sewing machine and I am all set to create lol!! I just used a cardboard box that I flatted out as a pattern for the tote bag, and then used one of the side flaps as a pattern for the handles..
